Are The Eagles delaying the release of T.O. to mess us up?

Just because he's traded doesn't mean he has to show up. Just ask Baltimore. If he has his heart set on playing for Dallas, he won't go to KC--trade or not.

again...dont be surprised if they pay the bonus...not saying it will happen, but it 1) buys them more time 2) makes him easier to trade somewhere else because that team isnt paying the 5mil bonus and 3) keeps him from Dallas

wont shock me in the least, they have the cap money and Lurie has the $$$

David

Would surprise me a little. Its a bigtime gamble because interest in TO has been decidedly lukewarm.

Both the Chiefs and Broncos have stated recently their interest in TO has been very overstated by the media. Both teams have said they would think about it if it were a short-term, incentive laden deal. Doens't sound like a scenario where they want to send draft picks to get TO's *current* contract.

And other than pure speculation, there has been nothing from Dallas indicating that TO is a target for us. Not that it matters cause I doubt Philly would trade him to us anyway.

$5M is a LOT to gamble that the likes of Clayton or Mortenson are right about interest in TO, and Lurie does ot throw money away lightly.

Delaying the release of T.O. until the last minute before his roster bonus is due is simply a good business move for them. It has nothing to do with the "rumors" that the Cowboys are interested and more to do with them waiting until the last minute to see if they get an offer for him.

In fact, the rumors about the Cowboys wanting Owens probably helps the Eagles more than anything because there may be one or two teams out there who want him bad enough to trade something to the Eagles for him since if the rumors are true, they won't get him if he's released.

I believe the beagles are praying a deal is made, however, if TO wants to be a Cowboy, then he will simply cause the other team problems. Like he did the Ravens.

Therefore, I really believe it is a done deal......T.O. will wear a Star!

not necessarily to slight the Cowboys, but to keep TO from making the mega-bucks you intend to pay him for embracing the Star {I could just hear TO now apolgizing and trying to explain to the Cowboy fans how he really didn't mean to disrepsect the Star, but he was just having fun} .

Actually if he came right out and said that he did it back then AND HE MEANT it(competitive thrashing of opponent)... I wouldnt mind(I want him for that reason - to do against all opponents)... thats competition.... He wasnt a Cowboy then and he shouldnt have to apologize or say he was just funnin us.

Post something that is REALLY debatable... it would be more fun messing with ya...;)

Exactly.

Lets think about TO in a short-term, incentive laden deal too...He would start trouble for any team where he had a deal like that and was not getting enough pass's thrown to him so he can make those incentives.

For example, if he did come here...We play the BP gamer plan to perfection and start running effectively and our run pass ration is 65% to 35% (pass).

We could be winning games and TO would be screaming he's not getting the ball enough to meet his incentives....Ugly.

The only problem I have with that theory is that T.O. has to prove that he will be a model citizen. He can't cause anymore issues with teams or his pay-says are over.

Let's just hope that K.C. doesn't want to do more than a 1 year deal period. That's the only hope T.O. will be here.

Debate this ...you've just made a statement ...that it's alright to disrepsect the
Dallas Cowboys Star, as long as ..."He (or anyone) wasnt (SIC) a Cowboy ...and he shouldnt(SIC) have to apologize or say he was just funnin(SIC) us."
Don't think the rest of the Cowboy fans here would agree with your "open-season" statement! Now, that's Debatable!

That's what I've been saying...Keeping Owens and Trading him are one thing...But The Eagles had better trade him to the team he wants to go to or you could have the same messy situation that the Ravens faced.

you sound happy about that??? examine your statement "if TO wants to be a Cowboy, then he will simply cause the other team problems. Like he did the Ravens"

That is exactly why we DON'T want him here! what he wants he gets! :bang2:

Yeah I guess that puts the fiction into reality... My equation say it all... T.O. on this problem cancels out of Eagles season which results in maddness throughout most of the season, no division wins, a 6-10 record, talk going on about Terrell Owens maybe going to Dallas if he's released, and who the blame went= to? + :disseags: Now that bring me back to my thought of the first game, you could actually tell T.O. wanted to become a Cowboy, when the P. Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys the first game and we all know that Terrell Owens wearing a Dallas Cowboys Michael Irvin throwback jersey he punished Eagles organization morally, well that's worser than him dancing in the middle of the star, so he was showing he wants to be a Dallas Cowboys player like Irvin.... + :bastid: Now the Eagles are trying to ruin Terrell Owens by trading him off to another NFL Team instead of the Dallas Cowboys because of the season they had... + :mule: :moonbart: = The Eagles are H-A :)

IF we are indeed going to make the move to sign T.O. when he is released then maybe that's why we are not signing anyone. Saving the needed cash to lock him up for a 3 year contract with a $10-15 million signing bonus.

Could it be that the Eagles know this and are waiting until the last second to let T.O. go because they know he's coming here and by delaying his release that may allow other teams to pick up free agents that we want because we're not going to move until T.O. is signed??

This would only make sense IF T.O. is indeed our #1 target this off-season.

Stay tuned....

Thoughts?

:star:

I can only hope so and I hope it works. You dont know how much I am praying to God this does not happen. If it happens, I hope the Boys lose 16 games a year for as long as hes on the team.

Jerry holds all the cards on this one, imo. If he wants T.O. bad enough, he simply has a deal in place with Rosenhaus. In fact he could have already worked out a right to match or top any other deal that may come from another team trying to trade for T.O.

The only way the Eagles could trade him to another team is if that team can top Jerry's deal, because the team MUST work out a contract with T.O.

T.O. simply doesn't work out a deal with the other team if it's lower than Jerry's offer and the Eagles have to release him before the bonus is due.

I can't wait to see TO get screwed by Eagles

What exactly do you mean by this? You've been arguing that the Eagles will pay him a $5 million bonus and keep him on the roster. Is this the way they'd be "screwing him?" If so, I'm sure everyone else on their roster would be lining up to be screwed.
