Are the Eagles this years version of the '05 Steelers?

I am not really an optimist, so I say there is no way the Eagles lose to the Falcons this week, which would cause them to lose all the momentum they have just regained through this tough stretch. If they lose they would be on the road the following week, they will handle their business just to host a game and stay home in the first round. They have a veteran team, a playoff veteran team, they know how important these games are. With all of that said, plus their recent winning streak they could ride that wave all the way to Miami, where they could beat the Chargers (who everyone thinks will represent the AFC, and remember how they stopped LT last year?). It is certainly no given, but it is also not out of the realm of very real possibility either. Like the Steelers of last year they seem to be getting HOT at the right time, or "peaking" if you prefer.

That would be really something for Garcia to lead them to the SB, when McNabb has not be able to do so.

Talk about a QB controversy next year.

They're an average team that is firing on all cylinders right now. Everything is working perfectly for them. I guess that's a perfect analogy to the Steelers. However, I don't see the Eagles winning the next 4 games in row to go on to the Super Bowl.

Not to be disagreeable at all, but that is all it is going to take to go to the Superbowl from the NFC

Like I said, I don't see their luck lasting them 4-5 more games to get into the Super Bowl.

They are similar to us when Romo came in and we were hot. Just and average team firing on all cylinders. We are more talented IMHO and certainly haelthier, but they have experience, so maybe they go a ways, but in the end they don't have the horses IMHO.

It's perfectly possible for a #3 seed to go to the Super Bowl. However, Baltimore/Indianapolis/Sandiego would beat them down.

Wasn't Pittsburgh the #6 seed last year? And didn't they beat the #1 seed from the NFC in the Super Bowl?

For further proof of the possibility, see last years game of Philly VS San Diego, plus throw in the Marty S. Factor.

And you can remove Indy from your list of possible beat down opponents, they will NOT be there in Miami.

They were lucky to win the Carolina game. Since then, they have just been playing well. New Orleans could give them multiple problems but I see them harrassing Grossman to death, and, to more turnovers than their defense would be able to recover from.

And we saw what they did to Eli.

Like I said, they can get there, but they won't win it. Personally, I think the Saints will eliminate Philly and we'll have a Baltimore/San Diego- Chicago/New Orleans Super Bowl

Almost anybody from the NFC could make it to the superbowl, but I don't think the Eagles will be winning it this year.

Phillies defense and inability to stop the run will catch up with them.

The Steelers were 15-1 the prior year and had suffered major injuries that forced them to lose three in a row at midseason.

Philly was 6-10 the prior year and while they suffered injuries they really never got hot or flashed dominance against decent competition until December. Philly lost its QB for the year, Pitt just lost theirs for under a month.

Gawd I hope not.

I do not want to see them get a Super Bowl ring.

What is sad is that there may be some posters here that will root for them to win one, like the Steelers last year.

can you IMAGINE what LT would do to the Eagles? Like 400 yds and 8 TDs.

I have a serious feeling they are going to lay an egg against Atlanta.

we're the only team they've beaten all year that has a winning record.... even though they killed us. I see them losing to the saints second round. I don't think they can stop they're offense and the saints defense is underrated. But what do i know, i expected us to beat them by 10 points yesterday, and i didn't think we were going to lose until about 10 minutes left in the fourth

Ya'all are missing the big picture. The E-gals wll never win a SB. The universe will change course and the world as we know it will cease if that ever happened.
In spite of all their chest-beating and "almost's", here's the company they keep......the crowd they run with as those who haven't, and might not ever win Super Bowl: Buffalo, Cincy, Cleveland, the Vikqueens, the Loin's, New Orleans, Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle, the Fartinals, Titans, Jags, San Diego, and the Texans.
Thier fans come around and talk like they're up there with champions. They're delusional.
They have exactly one less SB Championship ring than the Rams, Tampa Bay, the J-E-T-S Jets, the Ravens, Colts, Chiefs, and the Bears.
The Eagles, for all their empty glory, fall into the catagory two paragraphs above. Period. End of story. That's who they are!! An undistinguished group to say the least. Bottom feeders. The armpit of the NFL. The asswhole's of the league. The embarassment of Pro Football.
All the regular season wins and empty playoff record doesn't vanquish the facts. The Eagles franchise is no better than the Cardinals or Falcons when all is said and done.
