Are the Giants All that Good?

According to many sources, the New York Giants are the 'hottest team in the NFC' because they've won 6 games in a row...

Here should be a line we're all familiar with, particularly if you paid any attention during the week prior to the Week 6 Patriots game: "Let's look at who they've played."

After starting 0-2 with losses to Dallas and GB, they pulled off a close win against the Commanders in week 3, their only win over a team now above .500. Since then, they have played Philadelphia (3-5), Jets (1-8), Atlanta (2-6), San Francisco (2-6), and Miami (0-8).

I guess I'm just not that impressed as many others are. Yeah, the game is in New York, but I just think this will be an easy win...

I hate to admit it, but they've shown alot of heart this year.

After starting 0-2 and being spotted 17-3 at the half at FedEx, I switched channels b/c it sure looked like they were going to fold like a cheap suit.(Last year's squad would have)

There last 4 opponents are 4 of the 5 worse teams in the NFL this year. The Giants are a solid team, but they dont scare me.

Lot of heart? That sure didn't help against the Cowboys and Packers.

If you are talking about it took them lot of heart to beat up on sorry teams like Falcons, 49ers, Dolphins, and Jets, then you aren't saying much about the giants.

The funny thing about playing 4 of the 5 aforementioned teams is that, they don't have a decent QB.....Pennington gave that game away against them, and the score of the game does not reflect that....also, they played against Dilfer, Lemon, and Harrington.......Wow, their defense is really good:rolleyes:

IMHO Philly would have won if Westbrook and Thomas had played.

We will know how good they are this weekend. We can talk all we want about who they beat on their recent streak, but remember that we faced some poor offences as well. The thing I can't seem to shake is this feeling that they have peaked... a little early. They are as good as they will ever be this season, right now. The Cowboys, on the other hand, seem to "grow-up" a little with every new game.

Regardless of the result (I think we win 37-24), when we play them for the THIRD time this year in the playoffs, our squad will be so much further along than where we are right now and the giants will be worn down and much less of a threat than they are today.

I doubt it-it was obvious Steve Spagnuola knew their schemes, and especially DMac inside and out(especially being a former Philly assistant), just by the way he was running things the entire game.

Emotion plays a big part of any team's success. I think Dallas has a lot of emotion, but not on a game level. I think their emotion comes from the indictment from last year that they folded in December, and left a lot of unfinished business on the field. Their emotion is also driven by the new coaching staff, and the communication between the players and coaches is a big plus this year, as opposed to last year.

I guess you could say the Dallas emotion is a season driven emotion, whereas teams like Philly and New York are relying on an emotion that is directed against a team they feel they should have beaten earlier. You don't hear a Cowboy calling out another player, or another team, but rather, they are calling out each other to be better.

I think Crayton missed that memo.

Barring major injuries, we beat them by 2 TDs.

They were good enough to put up 35 on us in week 1.We haven't "stopped" a real passing attack yet. This week will be a good indicator of how our D has progressed. It will also be a good indicator of how THEIR D-line has progressed. If we can't stop the pass (again) and they can get good pressure on Romo this game will not be pretty.Never underestimate a division rival, especially at home.I think our coaching gives us the deciding edge and we win 31-21.

And we were good enough to put up 45 points against them. And who did giants stop?

They are 6-2 and sitting 1 game behind us that is all that needs to be known. How good are the Giants we will find out sunday but in the words of BP you are what you are and they are 6-2 and 2-1 in the division.

I'm just saying, we need to be wary of any team that has shown they can put 35 points up on us.I'm also just saying that their D-line is very good and could potentially cause us some problems. It would have only taken one turnover caused by an explosive pass rush and we would not have put up the 45 points we needed to beat them in week 1.I'm also just saying that our coaching will be able to use that pass rush against them at least some of the time and will put us in a position to win the game.

The Giants are a good football team. However, I'm counting on Dallas proving that they are better.

And I'm saying we have a high-powered offense and our defense is pretty good as well. You could look at positives of the giants if you want and I'll continue to look at positives of the Cowboys.

We could play all the hypothetical scenarios all we want but the fact is we were good enough to beat them and I'm pretty sure we'll be good enough beat them once again this Sunday.
