They could have traded Rodgers off to a number of teams, especially after his one good showing against dallas last year. Probably could have gotten a 2nd round pick for him from minny, baltimore, miami, etc.
GB invested a first round draft pick and would likely not trade him for anything less. Is his stock that high. Likely not.

As for his "good showing" vs the Cowboys last season, his short passes get all the credit. He didn't hit anything more than 12 yards down field. That won't fly for 60 minutes 16 times a year.

If Romo had retired and said he was coming back twice only to back down then we draft two qb's then yes I might be pissed.

Yes, but they were naive for thinking that way. Brett has waffled before, this year was no different. But think about it, he doesn't play golf, etc. so *** was he really going to do with his time? Hunt swamp rats in the Bayou?

They should have known he was going to change his mind, it was pretty obvious to most of the general public, particularly since he had the success he had last year. They should have accepted the fact that he was going to play until his physical skills diminished and even if he wanted to play beyond that, they could release him and no one would have had a problem with it. Much like Emmitt with us. Any of us could see that he wasn't nearly the same running back, so it wasn't a big deal when he went to Arizona.

People invest 1st round picks on players every year, and most would never garner another first round pick if they tried to trade them. Its just part of the business. GM's know it.

I believe his stock is pretty high right now. He sat on the bench for 3 years, learned under favre, had a great college career, and in his one showing in an NFL prime time game against the cowboys did pretty darn well. Was he gameplanned for? Of course not. But he didn't gameplan for the boys either. All I'm saying is there is enough there for another team to take a chance on him, especially if you got guys like Rex Grossman, Tavaris Jackson or John Beck on your squad. Hell, even Parcells tried out Quincy Carter. You don't think there wouldn't be interest in Rodgers? C'mon.

Fans would have been happy, Favre would be happy, Rodgers would have been happy. It could have been a win, win, win. But the egos of Thompson got in the way. (not saying brett isn't at fault too though). Its the same old story whether you work for an NFL team, or the drive thu in Dairy Queen. Management always wants to show they are the ones with the real power.

Management is the one with the real power. It is always that way and probably always will be that way. Favre, over the past few years, has been bigger then the franchise IMO. It can not be that way. It's more a matter of how you are going to run your organization, more so then what is right for Favre IMO. Thomspon, right or wrong, is going to be right. That's how it works. You can't get sideways of your GM and expect to be around for long. This could have been handled better by both sides but at this point, it's too far along. McCarthy is right IMO. You are on board or you are not. Tell me now and lets move on.

It wasnt like they invested a first round pick on him, they were kind of force to take Rodgers. Remember, Rodgers was suppose to go top 5 and he was still there at 24 when the Packers picked.

I think everyone has to take in account that Favre was runner up for the MVP last season. You can spin it a different way. How can a team not want the runner up for MVP last season????

To me it sounds like Mike McCarthey doesnt want him and I think its because he knows he cant be boss until he leaves. Its an ego thing. Why would Brett Favre need to be in the film room till the wee hours of the morning? He seen it all and has been there and done that. I think only a few hours a day would be sufficent enough. Hey, I thought week three was going to be a tough game but now it just got a whole lot better.

There is an easy solution here and its staring ted thompson in the face, but I think he's too damn stubborn to do it.

1. Get Favre back. Do whatever you have to, to make sure he will play 2 more seasons. I don't care what happens, 2 seasons no matter what.

2. Trade Aaron Rodgers. THere are plenty of teams that would be interested. Bears, Vikes, Ravens, Miami, Etc.

3. Keep Brian Brohm the backup. He can take over for favre in 2 years after learning on the bench. He has a buttload of potential too.

That is exactly what should happen!

In fact since this has all begun, when Favre retired and right after they drafted BB, I've been telling Packer fans anytime I can that Brohm is their future at QB, not Rodgers. And then anytime they bring up what Rodgers "did" against us, I ask them how long that actually took place? He had about 3-4 good series against us, the end. We literally figured him out on the fly, in the middle of a game, with no film on him whatsoever. That 4th quarter sure didn't look very good for him here.

Really, it's almost laughable. It's like realistically, what damage could a team like us do to him with a full weeks prep on him? Their fans are really acting clueless. Though I suppose you can't blame them when their entire front office and coaching staff is a handful of misfits. There are reasons why Favre so desperately wants out of Green Bay, and it has nothing to do with the team or the fans.

There were 2 games, back to back, there, right as the SS.Packer.Crap took on some steam where you could literally see Favre rip that team right from McCarthy's hands.

In back to back games, McCarthy made some VERY bad calls late in each of those games that nearly cost them both of them, perhaps even one of them I can't remember, but anyway Favre was glaring some looks that could kill towards him right across the field and the camera was catching it. Their team was different from that point on and they were actually contenders. They had begun following Favre rather than their coach.

This is definately between Favre and McCarthy. And it's going to cost them this season.
