Are they really going to stick with the run?

As long as the OL can consistently provide a good running game, and we don't get too far behind in the score, they will run it more,,, we haven't had that option in many years.

With Garrett, he has a tendency to try to "out think" the opponent even when its not necessary. That's one of the main reasons I think he tends to pass the ball inside the 5 yard line rather than run it even on first and goal. His thinking is the opponent is expecting run, so pass. In theory that sounds logical, and we had a lot of success doing it last year, but overall, its better to run the ball at least once or twice in that area.

I don't think we're going to be able to use the same game plan that we had against the Titans in every other game, because despite the improvement of the offensive line, defenses are more than capable of stacking the box and/or run blitzing to stop or at least impact the running game enough to eventually kill a drive. I just hope they stick with the running game throughout the game, not just at the beginning. A balanced attack is still the best way to win games on a consistent basis.

The real test will be if we are calling more running plays and having to punt, will they abandon it and revert to more passing plays. Sometimes you have to run and punt early to set up run and score later.

I think we'll see more emphasis on the run due to Romo's back. It's pretty obvious Romo's play style has changed this season.

I sure hope so. This is against 8 in the box in the 4th quarter with a 13 point lead, went for 8 yards.

awesome.

i think some of you guys are putting too much blame on garrett and not enough on romo for abandoning the run game over the years.

lol if that is the case it is still on Garrett. He is the coach he should be able to control his players or else he is useless

True but Romo is also an 9 year vet. He should know better as well.

They seriously need to figure out how to get Ryan Williams onto the active roster. If Murray is not carrying the ball, I want Williams out there. That’s the 1-2 punch we'll need to stick to the ground and pound game without wearing Murray down.

With Jason Garrett now being a proper HC on the sideline and Linehan calling the plays, do you feel like it's real this time?

I truly hope so. We have the talent to run the football 40+ times a game.

I hope so. Control the TOP. Make a few stops per game and play smash mouth football. That's dallas' only shot.

I want Ryan Williams called up to the active roster

I read somewhere that in 8 of the 58 games JG has been head coach, the Cowboys are 7-1 when they run more than they pass.

I would live to think so but not confident that is the case. Romo is clearly not right. Will they run if Romo stays how he is? Probably. Will they run if Romo returns to form? Unknown.

I think the plan is to run the ball. However, defenses can dictate what you do. If the Rams stack the box, 8 or even 9 men. Yes, pass the ball, Dez with single coverage. You can't complain about that. Burn them a few times, they back off, then run it down their throats. We may see heavy on the pass at first sunday, man won't some get in a tizzy about that. LOL.

They now have the OL though to take on those 8 man fronts. Garrett even said they had to use smoke & mirrors in the past, but now they have the OL just to line up and go at them. This tells me, they feel they can run no matter what. So now, will that be a part of the game plans core. to just say, they will abandon it, or it's in their DNA, or what ever, well, we will have to see. give it some time. But I still see passing at first, if a team plays 8 men fronts.

Brees and their passing game has nothing to do with our pass / play ratio. Unless the defense gives up 7 TYD's, and we are playing from behind. This will be a big test for the defense, more so than the 49ers.

I been watching teams in the red zone, especially inside the 5 yard line. Quite a few of them, also pass on 1st down. So maybe it isn't just us.

If Romo gets his act together in the weeks ahead, don't be too surprised if the passing game returns to take a prominent role in our offensive attack. If Romo falters and the OL continues to excel, there's surely every reason to believe the running game would continue to offer good balance with the passing attack. By failing to score early in games and getting badly behind, that could easily curtail our likelihood to emphasize the ground game, though. Circumstances will always dramatically affect our offensive strategy, just as it certainly would any other team.

I have little doubt the Cowboys will run the ball I also have no doubts that some games it will be harder to run vs certain teams and their defenses and Dallas will have to go to the air more. I want Dallas using the weapons we have be it in the ground game or passing game.
