sadly, we are cursed with a mediocre gm. the worst gm wouldn't consistently produce 8-8 clubs.

I used to have a saying when we were going through that terrible period of QBs after Troy and before Tony.

I would say...Jerry is trying to get a QB on the cheap...he is trying to hit a homer in a ball park while using a wiffle ball bat.

Well after trying and trying he finally got his homer. I would say Tony was a homer, might not be the grand slam homer some want but for swining with a wiffle ball bat he hit a homer.

But after thinking about it I think it is fairer to say that Bill pinch hitted for Jerry on that one LOL.

Jerry didn't make a deal with the devil to win three championships in the 90s. He simply allowed himself to take a back seat to a great coach for about five years and conned the Minnesota Vikings into giving up the bounty for a declining Herschel. In other words, he took advantage of a front office even more clueless than him. You aren't going to be able to repeat that every five years. Remember, Jerry even found a way to screw that up--chasing off Jimmy and costing us the first and probably only ever four-peat in Super Bowl era NFL history.

Seriously, to suggest the Cowboys' current woes are due to some kind of curse is only to excuse the last decade and a half of front office incompetence and atrocious coaching.

I know. Jerry was gifted a nucleus by a real coach and interim de-facto GM, then merrily commenced with it's dismantling.

Well, there are the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Oakland Raiders, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns that have been unable to do much of anything over the past decade, other franchises such as the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions would belong amongst the aforementioned cursed however by drafting franchise QBs' they seemingly have potential again.

This thread is kind of two-fold, who are the "cursed franchises" and are we amongst them? It's going on one playoff year in twenty years and we've had two bonafide Hall of Famers come and going soon without much of any success (DeMarcus Ware, Jason Witten)... Arguably outside of 2007 we've not been a dominant team since the Aikman era....

Jerry fell all over himself to get back to being large and in charge. Parcells warned you of it before he left. It was his way of saying "Good luck with this guy".

Good point. The last of the Tuna's influence will be gone soon. Romo, Ware and Witten are in decline are are not going to last long. Then, they are back to just Jerry's players.

We are not cursed.......................we just suck..............EPIC SUCK with Opie at the helm...........At least Wade won a couple of division titles and a playoff game..............Opie has won jack and lost to virtually every team over 500.
