Are we going to run a New England type of offense?

With the Drafting of Escobar; i cant see them taking him so high if they didnt plan on starting him. Does that mean we are going to run a Two TE offense like the patriots?
Hope it works out, because we had bigger needs.

If they don't, then this draft was a real debacle. If they do, then the draft looks a lot better now.

terrance williams saved the draft for me as of now.

watching footage of escobar looks promising... great hands and reach....the red zone jump ball is now a possibility.

here's hoping.

Yeah they are really banking on the 2 TE set. Unfortunately, our OLine is still not as good as the Pats and we don't have Belichick designing these plays

No from what I've read Escobar can't compare to either of NE TE. But if you want a real answer... No

Escobar was drafted to contribute and develop into our new TE. We will run our same offense but have a new added threat with Escobar. Which I guess if implemented as planned, will look similar to NE scheme (minus Brady and plus Dez!)

If running a NE offense means having two TE's on the field, then sure. We are running a NE offense. However, I am not in favor of taking Harris (a proven playmaker) off the field in favor of a rookie TE that hasn't played a snap of NFL football.

I'm also not sure what this means for Hanna, and I loved Hanna's athletic upside.

The fact of the matter is that we've had multiple 2nd round TE's here and not a single one ended up being involved in the offense in any major way. Why, suddenly, this would change is beyond me.

LOL at Harris being a "proven playmaker."

hanna is a great te in between the 20's and escobar will be that red zone td maker.

I still say he is a hybrid WR who will play TE, slot and outside on occasion. I'd also play him as an H back and put him in motion esp around the goal line. He'll be a nightmare for DCs and their safeties and LBs. My guess is they will have to game him and put a player on him esp if their LBs don't match up. He'll get some screens including bubble screens. Most exciting pick we made by far even the Baylor player.

If they do, they wasted the Terrance Williams pick.

If they don't, they wasted the Escobar pick.

Poor drafting overall. I'd give the first two days a C-

Yes. There won't be a fullback on the team next year.

I wouldn't write Hanna off. He almost has the wingspan of Escobar at almost 78 and is faster as well as athletic. He didn't have Escobar's production or predraft hype but I like the player. He doesn't run like Escobar but he can develop. Having Witten and two hybrids is ok with me. We are using an OT to inline block in max protection anyway (of course we don't have a blocking TE so...).

Huh? Williams will replace Austin. Austin will be regulated to slot.

It's all about being being better in the red zone.

Williams will be on this team for a long time. That can't be said about one of our starters in recent years. Miles replacement might have been drafted tonight.

Obviously. But why draft Escobar in the 2nd if we're going to be running 3 wide sets?

And if we're going to be running 12 personnel, why draft Williams in the 3rd, especially when you have Dwayne Harris who really impressed last year, as well as Coale Beasley, who fills a much needed void with some wiggle underneath coverage.

I just don't like what we've done in this draft very much.
