Are we interested in the wrong Lions coach to be our next HC?

McCarthy is not coming back . 2 of his 5 yrs here were 6-10 and this yr looks like a 5-12 wreckage . This is not the Jets or Giants . Even JG kept the records out of the gutter .
Please and Garrett is the reason he will stay, Jerry doesn't know how to let to! It would have to be Mike to say HEY I'M GOING ELSEWHERE

All teams have injuries. I don’t see young Cowboys making a jump under this staff. Tolbert and Dowdle Schoon , young vets that should be making deeper contributions . 6-10 and 5-12 jobs don’t get you extended . I would say MM needs at least an 8 win season to even get Jerry interested in bringing him back . I see 5 wins total .

People continue to say let's get Ben Johnson, with his high price tag which Jerry isn't going to pay for. Enter in former Cowboys player Aaron Glenn who comes him that Parcells tree. Tough minded guy, would demand the respect of this team. Please give your thoughts
Frankly, I wouldn't mind Deion Sanders. Now that will add more fuel to an already dumpster fire. I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry gives up the kitchen sink and more to draft Deion's overrated son.

I like Aaron Glenn a lot. But let’s all be honest and save some time. There’s no way Jerry hires any of these young gun coaches despite their being excellent candidates.

Jerry is as predictable as the sun on 3:25 kickoff blinding his players. He prefers older “name” guys like Parcells (Belechick) or older guys he can dominate (Barry Switzer, Wade Phillips, Mike McCarthy) or unproven or young guys he can trust (Dave Campo, Jason Garrett)

Jimmy Johnson was a great hire. Young, innovative, guts and discipline. Jerry will NEVER hire a young, innovative name like that as long as he is breathing.

So as much as I like guys like Aaron Glenn or Ben Johnson or other young guns that are fast risers, don’t expect one of those types being in Big D as long as the “Lord of the Curtains” is still in charge.

I agree it’ll likely be a name that we know or is established if McCarthy is even fired but Aaron Glenn is 52 years old, and has been coaching for 10 years. Not exactly a young gun. Played in the nfl for 14 years, also played here and has connections to parcells whom Jerry trusts. Little bit different than a 37 year old Ben Johnson or Bobby slowik- who I agree Jerry won’t hire unfortunately

Aaron Glenn would not "demand" anything. A coach can't create a tough, winning culture with Jerry Jones mixing with the players, undermining him on radio, running tourists through the middle of practice, making draft picks, signing only bottom of the barrel free agents and so forth.

The fact that you automatically preclude the Cowboys from going after the better candidate shows beyond the shadow of a doubt that whoever gets hired MM is already doomed for failure. The Cowboys aren't winning anything until the old fool is gone.
It is the truth and we fans wish it was not the case, but the JJ track record smacks you into reality.

I do think the next HC should be a DC because Dallas has a veteran QB n WR. The offense will be ok with a good modern play caller, while the defense needs massive help and attitude adjustment imo.

I'd rather have Ben. But if I was betting I would bet on Glenn.

I was saying Glenn a while ago. I'd love to have him at HC.

What would be funny is him letting everyone go & get turned down by everyone. Then he could add coach to his title & really show us his skills.

I'm not convinced Jerry let's McCarthy walk.

Giving him a new deal would be just like a Jerry thing to do.
This would be the big twist no one saw coming. Why not sign him to a new deal before the season if you're going to do that? Even for Jerry this seems like a long shot when he knows he's losing fans and getting bombarded left and right from the media on a terrible season. That certainly won't be the type of statement that could at least temporarily get people off his back.

Even if he hires a decent head coach, is he going to let him pick his own coaching staff?

Hiring a guy and telling him Zimmer is going to be his DC would be such a Jerry move.

Oh, speaking of Zimmer, don't discount his name being thrown in the HC candidate hat. You just know it.

He's my third choice after Belichick and Vrabel. Brian Flores is also high on my list of young coaches
He will have some strong backing ........Parcell, Campbell and Payton
I'd love to have Flores as DC and Bienemy as OC just to weed out the soft players here.....those two cats don't put up with snowflakes on a professional football team

you're sooooooooo true on all of this, I keep saying, he's going to hire a new coach, but to keep Dak happy he's going to allow for the QB coach to remain or make him the offensive coordinator

How can you weed out a player that is under contract for several years, this isn't college buddy

Benched players weakens a players ability to get good contracts.....the problem here is NOBODY here gets benched or demoted

Elliot had to miss or be late to a dozen meetings before they finally did something

Blow this mother up
