Are we losing both coordinators?

It seems like last year, even though there was interest in DQ and KM, they expressed that they weren’t interested in leaving. Especially DQ, who sounded like he had unfinished business here that he needed to take care of. I’m not hearing similar things from either one this year. What do you think, are they both gone if they get offers this year? I think DQ could succeed as a head coach, but I’m not sure about KM.

Dan Quinn is receiving a lot of interest. He may move on we’ll see. I’ll be pretty surprised if Kellen Moore gets a head coaching opportunity.

Me personally I hope they both stay.
I think odds are DQ is gone.
Kellen, I think is more of a toss up. I’m not convinced that he can convince organizations that he has that “leader of men” quality to be a HC.

Honestly I am pissed that any of our coaches would take interviews right now. Does Quinn care if our Defense goes tits
up tomorrow because he was doing a interview instead of his job here. If this happens how much would you want him. I personally would have more respect for him if he said I will interview and listen after the season is over…

If I was JJ I would let Quinn go without a counter offer. He blew a 14 point lead and a 17 point lead and in a SB he let his defense at the time blow the biggest lead ever. That was sick to watch and I don’t care who you root for.

.they shouldn't be allowed to interview coordinators while they're teams are competing in the playoffs

Quinn is most likely gone because he knows there’s no opportunity with the Cowboys next season as their next HC. Coming into the season it was pretty much make or break for McCarthy to at least win a playoff game. He’ll definitely be back as HC next season.

@Blackrain “they shouldn't be allowed to interview coordinators while they're teams are competing in the playoffs”

That would be a really bad idea. If you knew you were the leading candidate in 2-3 head coaching opportunities, and they’d be filled if your team made it very far in the playoffs, you would then have to seriously consider resigning from your coordinator position before the playoffs start. That would only hurt the current team even more. College coaches do that all the time, it would become the same scenario. Vast majority of coordinators see their job simply as a stepping stone to being a HC.

You have to consider the pay discrepancy as well. If you were offered a job that QUADRUPLED your salary, but the conditions are you had to quit that day, would you say, “No, my company loyalty is too strong?” No one would, it would be unreasonable to ask that of someone.

The whole purpose of allowing interviews for teams still playing is to not close the door on candidates who are currently detained

We are not losing either. No one is hiring KM as a HC. And Quinn was primed for Denver but with Peyton and their interest in others he’s not going there. Too many good candidates floating around.

Unfortunately, there’s a strong possibility he’s the Rooney rule sacrificial lamb
Sacrificial lamb or not, he had to prepare for four interviews this week. I really don’t see the harm in professionals preparing for an interview while preparing for a playoff game. If anything, I would use the playoff game as part of the interview process. I would ensure that I’m sufficiently preparing for the playoff game so that my prospective employer can see my skills and abilities on the field.

The teams which fired the coaches all have to wait for offseason , meaning end of SB , to start the interviews.

That would be fair?

If that's the case... majority of the CZ members get their wish.

Time will tell.

Go Cowboys!

With video calls these days how long does it actually take to interview for a position? If there’s no fly in /fly out I’ve got less of a concern.
