Are we still an 8-8 club?

At 2-3 I responded in a thread to discuss our remaining schedule. At that time I felt we had a great shot at 10-6 or even 11-5.

The reasoning behind this was two fold. We had played realtively well against a very difficult schedule and the remaining schedule was relatively easy. 8-3 or 9-2 was not out of the question.

So I'm wondering what the 8-8 crowd think now?

Do you see 4 more losses here? How about 3?

To be honest, the only game I think we lose is @NYG, but we very well.could wwin that one too

Bolded should all be wins.

-We should go in to Washington and spank them. Something like 23-6
-Under normal circumstances I'd call Miami a trap game but its Thanksgiving and their GM took Mama jokes to a whole new level so there will be some motivation there.
-Arizona, its the Cardinals dude.
-I see a split with the Giants, but really no reason why we cant win both
-Eagles..:laugh2:
-and Tampa Bay is one of the most underwhelming teams in the league, we should light them up

I'm sticking with my original prediction of 11-5, that would win the the division

We could realistically win all our games and lose all of them.

I just refuse to look too far down the schedule at this point. Next week, Washington. Let's kick their behinds and cruise into Thanksgiving with a 6-4 record.

As the season has progressed, I have believed there have been two "swing" games on our schedule. The first being Detroit, and the latest being today.

I thought the Detroit game was important in that it could come back to haunt us being as the loss came against another team likely eyeing a wildcard bid. The loss undoubtedly set us back.

Today's was another one. I think there's a drastic difference between 5-4 and 4-5 when you've got to believe 10-6 is the worst you can be to solidify a playoff bid.

Knowing full well any team can beat any other, you've got to like where this team stands moving forward when taking the schedule into consideration. The next three games are all games we should handily win, setting up a potential run heading into December. We'll see if we can take care of business the rest of this month.

We are 5-4 right now. No better, no worse. :)

What they do from here on out, is up to them. The talent is there, but we've seen talent mean nothing before. We could very well see it again.

...that's why they play the game.

Let's face it. The only good team they've beat so far is the 49ers, and we all know what first year HCs can do. It's the second year that they faulter.

I'm excited, but not sold. This team has to prove themselves. One game proves nothing. Beating the Rams proves nothing. The Bills? Not the Bills from early on in the season.

Consistent great play on all three areas of the game wins championships. That is something the Cowboys haven't shown.

I think I went with 10 wins in the poll earlier this year.

I'll stick with that.

9 wouldn't surprise me....but 11 would be pretty damn cool.

I've said it in previous threads, but today was the key. I really felt that if we came out today and lost, we were well on our way to 8-8. Now that we've won this one and actually put a couple of good games together, I think we'll go on a run and do some damage.

Gotta see how they look this weekend first. Gotta show the ability to win on the road, something they've struggled with. I don't think any of our road games are gimmes right now, not even Washington. Whenever we go to Fedex Field, it's their Super Bowl so they'll always bring it.

Ability-wise, I think the team is better than 8-8.

Record-wise, they are 5-4 at just a little past the halfway point.

I don't think Dallas will finish 8-8......or at least I hope not. I thought 9-7 at the start of the season but also thought it would go as high as 11-5 if everything gelled with the defense.

I'm saying we win out, by an average margin of victory of 7 points.

Looking at the remaining schedules of San Fran and GB, this is how the playoffs will pan out.

49ers: the only two teams that they play which pose a threat are the Ravens and Stealers, I'll say they split them and they will go 13-3
GB: Also a fairly soft schedule, however 15-1 is hard to do, I'll go with 14-2.

NFC Playoff Picture
1. GB (14-2)
2. San Fran (13-3)
3. Dallas (12-4)
4. New Orleans (10-5)
5. Chicago
6. New York

We are going to have to beat NY in back to back weeks, similar what we did to Phi in 09.
Then guess what, flashback to the 90's to play the 49'ers in the divisional round, then GB in the Conference championship.

Cheers.

It is hard to be definitive but given our schedule I think the expected wins is 9.5. I think NYG is a nightmare matchup for us - I'd probably prefer to play any other team in the league with the exception of GB. We really need to strengthen our OL before we can play with the Giants.

Against the Eagles, hopefully we come out with a more aggressive defensive gameplan. Several other teams have had a fair bit of success against Vick so Ryan needs to study the tape and see what he needs to do. I think it is wrong to play them trying to avoid the big play. That offense runs through McCoy so stopping him has to be the focal point of our strategy. Maybe that can be Carter's special assignment in pass defense.

i've always said 9-7, and i'm going to stick by it. i still can't trust this team to put together wins. it's tough being a Dalllas Cowboy because every team sees you as their Super Bowl. The skins, eagles, and especially the Giants raise their level of play for us b/c of their hatred for the Boys. same thing with other teams in the league. i don't think our Boys have completely understood that in the past and therefore have been prone to letdown games. i'm going to assume they happen again along this stretch.

i think we lose 3 out of the 4 remaining road games including one of the Giants games.

Who knows. I originally predicted 12 - 4 or 13 -3. I think we are turning the corner but I will not predict another a record so until we win our 9th game I will refrain from answering you question. :D

We're still an 8-8 team. Beating the Seahawks and Bills at home isn't going to change that. I think the team does have the ability to wind up with a winning record with the way the team has improved the past few games (minus Philly). I still have hope, but we're not quite "there" yet.

We were never an 8-8 team this season barring catastrophic injuries. Turns out we're probably not going to be a 12-4 team like I was thinking either (that was based on us beating the Lions and Jets), but I never saw us as average.

Lets just take care of the games as we're given them and at the end of the year we'll see what our record is.
