Where we are mediocre for most of the season but win enough games to sneak into the playoffs. Then shut down Carson Wentz, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees etc.

In NFCCG, this time we take out unbeaten Rams followed by shutting down KC Chiefs offense.

You are closer to correct with the 2011 Giants. The 2007 Giants were always dangerous. They had some setbacks but overcame them and were an elite D going into the playoffs. They also had an excellent offensive line where just about anyone running the ball looked like a pro bowler. Their offense, although not great, was solid. Now compare that to the Cowboys. Even if our D shapes up to be as good as theirs going into the playoffs, at this point in time our offense is not there. Yes people criticized Eli the same way, but he had a ton more help around him than Dak does at this moment.

Anything can happen so I am not completely writing it off. But this season looks like the typical Garrett run 8-8 team that beats the average to poor teams but loses to the good one's. I'm confident that we'll beat the Titans because that's how this team rolls. It's the 5 games after that which will tell the story. Does Dallas go 1-4 and continue that trend? Or 4-1 and surprise everyone. I don't believe we'll be surprised.

Anything is possible.

The defense has been good to date, however, the offense is a mess.

The stats that make me worry about the defense as it relates to them being playoff caliber are:

Cowboys rank 18th in the league in sacks with 19. They have an average pass rush.
Cowboys rank 26th in the league in opposing QB rating (98.6).

#1 leading indicator of a Superbowl winning team is the QB rating differential and the Cowboys rank very low in that category at -9.2.

I like your optimism. I don't share it, but I would like to.

No we are the 2018 Cowboys and they better get it going quickly on a season that is heading downhill fast, if they do not turn it around. I'm not going to predict an outcome but I do feel if they play to their potential they can have success.

Sure.

Why not.

Was going to say the same thing.
It all starts next Monday night. Win, it is a good start, lose, let the whining continue. Well if we win it still may continue.
But lose, I can't blame anyone for criticizing. And continue the process of GROG chants.
Depends how they lose. Was it Garrett, Linehan, players.

Sorry that you fell down the stairs and cracked your head on the floor. The only thing that matters is that you are alive and well. But you still show signs of confusion.

Give it another week I guess.

No, they are the 2018 Cowboys which looks a lot like the 2011, 2012, and 2013 Cowboys that finished 8-8.

Will you think the same thing when we struggle to score 20 points in the next two games combined?

For what it is worth Football Insiders has the Cowboys currently ranked 19th overall in the league based on their DVOA with the Offense ranked 25th in the league, Defense ranked 11th, and Special Teams ranked 12th.

They project the Cowboys will win 3.7 more games which would put them in 7-9.

For the record, I have zero understanding of Football Insiders's DVOA ranking system.

2007 is a great year to select to compare this team to another team..

You just selected the wrong nfc team that we compare to..there are 9 nfc teams that finished between 7-9 and 9-7 in 2007...you can select any one of those 9

But the Giants are not one of them
