Your post isn't making sense to me.Doubt it. Even HS coaches have more insight than that. They actually know the technique in and out and have an idea where people are with a degree of precision that the rest of us do not have. Plus they watch all the tape.
It's okay to admit our info and ability is limited and there's is better.
You’ll have to help me with which one has production….I like the 2 lbs today, one has production and one has history with E....the other signings for the most part suck
I doubt that their analysis is as simple as what you claimed ie 'first round pick only' selection bias.Your post isn't making sense to me.
Can you reword
Would make a good documentary.I call it Jerry Ball, but they will not be making any movies about it.
I get all that.I doubt that their analysis is as simple as what you claimed ie 'first round pick only' selection bias.
What I am saying is taht you are talking about a group that includes coaches and scouts who watch tape and know when the hand is supposed to go outside or when you should be counting on your inside hand or which step to punch or exactly what to look for in a reaction while you are dropstepping.
Broken down, football is complex. IF you have ever read a scouting report it will include first round pick but also have many more considerations. Now coaches certainly think they can fix more than they can but they can fix technique nonetheless.
It is possible that they identified specific technique or similar issues that could be addressed or are not going ot be an issue in the new scheme.
We are ignorant. We do not get to know what the scouting reports look like. We don't get the playbook so we do not know what the techniques. We do not have any tape on these guys that we have looked at.
The sensible thing is to say this is different; we do not know exactly how this will work out. That takes courage because apparently Cowboys fans do not know how to handle disappointment.
Yes, if you wan Eagles fan.Would make a good documentary.

They have identified what they believe is a key or something they believe is undervalued - Comp Picks.Money ball showed the beauty of statistical analysis. At that point, stats were minimal and OBP was identified as an undervalued quality.
That combined with identifying data that is not important to success but was devalued like arm angle or girlfriend.
If they were doing 'Moneyball' that would mean that they have identified a key trait that is either undervalued or recognized as a detriment when it is not.
People have been talking about getting guys in that hit and run. Those don't seem particularly novel.
Kind of true except the Jones boys have a lot more money to play with then the A's did. A's kind of had to be cheap because they don't generate anywhere close then Jones boys do.I'm starting to wonder if we are trying to pull off some sort of "Moneyball" style form of team building were we are looking at certain metrics that the general public doesn't generally perceive as valuable to sign lower dollar FA and acquire players via trade.
I'm not saying that it is a positive or a good thing, but it certainly seems like they are targeting certain players who have an athletic profile over an NFL pedigree.
Our offseason seems to have a theme... from the coaching search/hire to the FA period, to the players we are adding...

And given what they are doing this year: are they going to get more or less comp picks than what they were doing before?Yes
Yes, if you wan Eagles fan.
They have identified what they believe is a key or something they believe is undervalued - Comp Picks.
This is the root cause of why they won't sign legit FA's.
1. They will sign legit FA - only if they have been released.(Does not effect comp picks)
2. They will make a trade.(Does not effect comp picks)
3. They will pick up a legit FA after the draft, if any are still available.(Does not effect comp picks)
Outside of that, they will only sign scrubs, they have no negative effect on comp pick calculations.
If you want to insist that it is that simple then go for it. Its a complex organization but whatever makes you happy.I get all that.
I don't know what is going on, I am commenting on all the FRP pedigree talk...
I'm just saying go by the tape, it should
have the highest weighted value overall. Then, if you think the player is being used wrong or coached wrong, and you think his tape showed he is a player but needs good technique....take the risk.
I doubt that is what is happening, and they are signing former FRPs for cheap to drive hope back into the fan base. Jerry can sell 'he is a former FRP that we think was used wrong, we are very excited about this acquisition and what it means for the Dallas Cowboys'
I think it's something Jerry can sell, and I think sports management, over all sports, has an issue with size blinding them. Not saying the Cowboys scouts are more blind than good, I think we put talent on the field, but I know those is something Jerry can sell too
not being wise bro, but thats a lot of IF's. And mix in an unproven, first time head coach. If all of these things fall into place, we'll be very lucky. It’s a simple philosophy led by an owner who is living in the 90s when it comes to football decisions. Pay your top guys, don’t pay top dollar for other team’s fee agents, sign as a cheap free agent/trade for high draft talent that has not worked out, and draft/develop. I mean Williams. Mingo, Elam. Murray, ect have talent. In Jerry’s mind Schotty/Eburflus should be able to coach the talent into real football players. Let’s just say if Turner, Murray, and Elam play well are we really complaining. If we can get some health luck and draft well in the first 3 rounds with the return of Overshown and Diggs, you never know what can happen.
So you think it's about frp pedigree or tape?If you want to insist that it is that simple then go for it. Its a complex organization but whatever makes you happy.
