Are you a win now or later fan?

Dallas will pay heavy in the 1st 3 years of the deal after that if they choose to walk away the cap hit would be 10 mill.

I think Lawrence's deal could be an issue down the road but do you know what's down that road? Me neither.

It seems every year, I would point to the following year as the year because I saw them on this incline chart that basically ignored the real issue, the other teams on the chart. While I might see the Cowboys building toward something, so were other teams and maybe on a steeper incline.

I do not want them to address Prescott, Elliott or any other player under contract until they've exhausted all of the resources to make the run now. I am a win now fan. And it's not just because I am older than most here but that "team of the future" isn't working.

The other part of the win now mentality is to hell with the draft in 2020, do whatever is necessary in this draft, the one deep in DL, to get quality not quantity. The Cowboys need a pick to play like Vander Esch or Lord Byron, not a Charleton. They need immediate help because as this team is now, I don't see it. And the odds of immediate help at 58 are a lot worse than on day 1.

This draft is not just about needs but what is missing. If it is necessary to borrow from 2020 to impact 2019, I am all in on that. There are players in this draft that can step in and start but I do not see that at 58.

So, I know the "correct answer" is both but between the two which are you? Want to sink the 8 ball on the break or wait to set it up and take a chance on your opponent doing that?

Personally, I would rather wait a couple of years to get a new HC, coaching staff and new Qb. Won't happen but, I would enjoy it better.
Besides, no way we win a SB with Garrett at the helm.

I am 'win later' right up until it's time to 'win now'. It's time!

I'm a win NOW kinda guy these days. I was okay with "win later" after the '95 season. I was even okay with the garbage that followed for a few years. Seemed we were paying the interest on our championships. About the time Parcells was hired, I started to believe the ship was about to be righted. Wow. Sure has been one disappointment after another since.

If I was offered win the Super Bowl this year, & the price is, not making the playoffs for the next 5 or 6 yrs, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I'd like to feel that Championship feeling again. It's been awhile, & my adult children have never experienced it. :(

how about a novel idea...

perform at a consistent high level and compete for a championship every year.

Sure, but that way of thinking has lead to perpetual mediocrity. Sometimes it's better to break it down and start over.

The last time they broke it down a started over was the Parcells hire.

And the results were a competitive team pretty quick.

And once he left "yes men filled the position"

but that way of thinking has lead to perpetual mediocrity.

seems like we a caught in a loop

I don't think we broke it down. I don't remember anyone being traded at that time.

Tuna took the same team that was 6-10 and turned it into a playoff team w/ very few changes.

Coaching is huge, no doubt.

Belief and confidence are huge but short lived when not realized as Wade did the same thing with Parcells last team. The benefit of change ran out on both of them.

I think the one thing that is usually unknown to us is the confidence a team has in it's HC unless they're in NE or KC. We saw the result of that in GB last season and in CLE with that coaching change.

The players all know good coaching and they talk among themselves constantly about their coaching. We had two really good examples of what to do and not to do in the playoffs. Payton made it all about that bad call but there is not a player on his team that does not know he blew that game with his calls at the end and on the other side of that you have McVay admitting he was outcoached in the SB. One deflects the heat while another takes it for his team.

That's been my biggest problem with Garrett all along. It's OK to make mistakes, as long as their not repeated, but you have to own them.

The greatest testament to just how valuable coaching and confidence are was with Belichick in the SB against ATL. I am all over ATL taking it to them and they're up 28-3 and I am on the phone to my bud in ATL and he's delirious and as I look at the NE sideline and Belichick and Patricia, I am amazed. If I didn't know the score, I would believe it was a close game. That "just do your job" thing isn't just for the players, it is for the coaches as well because that's what they were doing and going about it methodically and not close to panic mode. That's when I told him "the fat lady is not only not singing but she's getting ready to come back". I do not like him but he is just the most amazing football coach I have ever seen.

I've never been as enamoured w/ Payton as some. Looks to me as if he's an OK HC, but not stellar. He sure hasn't done a good job w/ the D over the years, though it is doing much better now. His schemes don't seem to work against good D's consistently.

Regardless of the intentions of the Cowboys organization, after two decades of not "winning now", I think it's fair to classify all Cowboys fans who remain loyal to the team as "win later" fans despite claims of the contrary.
23 and waiting, hope it's not 23 more. And people wonder why cowboys fan are opinionated.

I'm a win again at some point before I die fan.

Neither im a win all the time fan

There's a grain of truth here. Do you see the Patriots go nuts every offseason to break the bank on the hope they can field a 1 year superteam before everything melts down? Nope. They want to win now, but they also want to win next year, and the year after that. Sometimes they sacrifice a little this year to make sure they can keep fielding quality teams indefinitely. But their version of a "down year" has been 11-5, not 6-10.

If the team is managed properly it should always be competitive..

Win always
