Is anyone enjoying watching Dallas play?

This just occurred to me in another thread. As usual I haven't missed a dallas game this year, but I'm enjoying watching other teams play much more.

So I'm just curious. How many of you watch other teams play? How many of you are, like me, enjoying those other games more?

Of course the final win or loss means much more to me for Dallas, but the actual act of watching the game, so many other teams are actually enjoyable to watch, even if we are a playoff team.

We just look like idiots with the way we can't move the ball and can't score and have this scheme that looks putrid when you actually watch other teams play.

Sometimes I watch how other offenses work and I'm not convinced Dallas is even playing the same sport right now. We look like the NFL version of when a Latin American country sends people to the winter olympics. We're there, it's technically the same game, but we have no idea how to play it like the top teams do.

I'm halfway to where you are - on the offensive side of the ball. I'm very envious of what other teams and offense are putting out there. But I appreciate what this team can do defensively.

This past week? Total suckage. The offense played poorly - while Ezekiel Elliott once again broke his back doing his part - but the defense play terribly and got it handed to them all day as well.

If the Colts are actually as good as the Cowboys made them look? And they're the youngest team in the league (save for their kicker)? And they have $120 million in 2019 cap space to spend? This league is in trouble!

But yes, quite often I wonder what the offensive talent on this team might do if they had better coaching.

I love watching the Cowboys play. I am starting to get sad that the season is almost over.

What has taken my enjoyment away lately is the officiating. I know we have both benefited and been hurt by officiated this season. I don't enjoy either side of this coin.
I want to win or lose fairly and i expect this part of the game to be somewhat consistent and fair.
Either way it hurts my enjoyment.

Now when we were 3-5 it wasnt so fun.

I watch two teams regularly. Cowboys and Dolphins(local team). Watching the Dolphins is painful. Dallas, not so much.

Last week sucked, but so it goes.

We have the most boring offense ever I dare to say!!!
Watching them sometimes takes it toll as fans of America's team being spoiled by laundry Staubach,White,Dorsett,Troy,Irvin,Romo, this offense looks like a documentary on slow dental surgery......dink and dunk heaven I guess....ole....

I love watching football. The Cowboys game is not always the best game on though.

I’ve detached myself more emotionally this era since the bar has been lowered.

No I've actually had a blast watching Chicago play this season. I've followed KC here and there as well.

As usual, I haven't missed a Dallas game but I just don't have the same hype that I used to. Watching Dallas play is an emotional rollercoaster and it's hard for me to really get invested when I watch them make the same mistakes over and over.

With Jerry it is drink and drunk. No wonder he likes this offense. They play like he is. :muttley:

Really good post. Same here for me for all the reasons you mentioned and even a little more extreme in my case. I can't even sit through/ "enjoy" watching the offense play anymore because of your reasons mentioned and the many others shared on this message board.

I've become "that so called fan." I'm the totally cynical, pessimistic and expecting the worse type viewer, all because our passing offense is beyond putrid.
Mostly I don't watch the live telecasts nowadays.

I used to be so hardcore too.

Again, good post bro.

I know what you mean. Contrasting the Chiefs offense for example, with the Cowboys is like comparing a Formula One race car to a 1996 Corolla with 250k on the clock. The latter probably still works most of the time but it is basically worn out and probably not the first choice (when there is one to be had). Getting a “tune up” in the guise of Amari Cooper helps some but ultimately you’ve still got an old Corolla.

As others have pointed out though, teams with limited offenses and great defenses can win still win it all. So while I enjoy watching the Chiefs speed up and down the field, I also liked watching the Cowboys effectively stone the Saints when they played. When there’s no fuel in the fancy race car, the Corolla works just fine.

Do any of you have a wayward child? One, that when faced with a fork in the road, will invariably choose the most difficult or hard to digest path? You love and cherish them; you would do anything to help them, but my gosh, there is a lot of anxiety along the way.

Not the best of analogies, but this somewhat parallels my feelings for the Cowboys: love the team and franchise, but sometimes feel it takes a lot of "work" to be a fan.

Call it a dumbing down of expectations, but i have learned to cherish even the smallest bit of success.

So, in answer to your question, "no" I don't enjoy this, but I continue to be a fan.

It really is hard to watch. Cooper has helped, but it is still pretty boring to watch compared to other teams.

We get in the red zone and it's like the defense has 15 guys out there. Everything run play is stuffed and every receiver is double covered.

Then you watch these good offenses and they make it look so easy. The Chiefs lost the other night, but they were 4 for 4 in the red zone and had no trouble scoring TD's. Their problem was defense.

Win or lose, the Chiefs are fun to watch. So are the Chargers. Saints and Rams have clearly slowed down recently, but they are still far more capable offensively than this group.

When they are on their game I do like watching this defense. But they were completely manhandled against the Colts. That needs to fixed fixed today or else we are done.
