Are you extending Pickens or Bland?

Well you have to say bland as of today. The team that drafted Pickens who has 2-3 times the salary cap didn't want to keep Pickens around. We know who bland is so he gets my vote today. Pickens can change this before his contract is up next off-season

Let’s see how they do this year

This is some prime off season time waste for sure

The Steelers suck.

If Bland doesn't get extended this season, he's gone. Pickens is 50/50, depends on his price tag. I don't know what Jerry's limit is on paying a 2nd WR.

A very real possibility and I'm curious where you would allocate the resources.

Don't give me if the player does this this year. No kidding. Project what you think they'll do in 2025 and make a decision between the two.

Neither, both are going to play great and Dallas won't be able to sign them due to too high of a contract demand.

DEFINITE NO on Pickens
He will want HUGE money

Maybe on Bland
If we cut or trade Diggs
This team is going nowhere with Dak
My preference would be to trade Bland at the trade deadline
Run with Revel and Elam

Well it's a simple debate over value surrendered vs. value received.

Nobody knows the player better than Pittsburgh, and they believed the draft picks were worth more than 1 season from Pickens.

The NFL's opinion? Jerry was the high bidder among all other 31 teams. I'm pretty sure Jerry isn't smarter than the rest of the league.
Your Jerry hate is showing.
Sometimes a Player needs a change of venue.
This will be well worth it.

BOTH.....and to fund it, cut Diggs (1st June), saving $15m.

Con's
- Micah, Bland and Pickens all getting their bag at the same time
- the Jones' inability to trade Diggs means the 'return' will just be financial

Pro's-
- can spread/stagger the 'Cap hits' on the 3 contracts away from 2026 (and 2027), bigger hits taking effect in 2028 (luckily the 2023 Draft, limits the contracts extensions in those years (esp, with Mazi's performance and Overshown.s injuries)
- improves our outside run defense (addition by subtraction of Diggs)
- Dak gets his weapon
- IT WILL FORCE JERRY INTO AN ALL-IN MINDSET for 2026/2027 and/or will force him to decide on Dak.

As we all know, the Jones' arent able to plan this through and wont be able to get the concept through to the agent/player (who'll invariably want more money). Jerry will try and get Bland, on the cheap due to past injuries.

Not turning this into a Dak debate (too late), Pickens could be seen as a two-way investment. Improving the WR room, and (fairly) evaluating Dak with weapons.
Reading Jerry's MO, last year he re-signed Dak and WR1 to huge money......and Jerry wanted his value for money (hence going cheap on the running game). Pickens gives us a relatively 'cheap' 3rd Round pick (who should recoup a 4th, hence a net loss of a round....but gives us hope and hopefully vindicates Dak.

It depends on what happens next season. Bland had that great All-Pro season in 23 but was injured last season. Bland might want $30 million a season. Could we survive with Elam, Revel, and a draft pick in 2026…..

Can Pickens open up our passing game or will he just be a giant decoy. He has Parsons agent so he will be asking for a close to CeeDee especially if he plays well.

The Cowboys might let both go depending on our record next season. I would justwait and see. Hopefully both have great seasons and we make the playoffs. Then we really can debate this.

It really comes down to money and who else we're paying at that position.

I cannot see paying Lamb money to two receivers, so if Pickens wants that this will be a one-year deal.

As for Bland, some of that will depend on what they do with Diggs in 2026 and also how some of the young cornerbacks do this season with Eberflus.

What Bland did a couple of years ago was was amazing, but as I have pointed out over the last couple of years, he struggles on vertical (down field) routes. He's much better when he can play horizontally or facing the quarterback.
Perfectly said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By how the team is constructed with the question marks at CB, I'd sign Bland. At worst, he solves your NCB spot and the have Revel getting ready for the future. Also, with Diggs possibly moving on at some point you need a guy like Bland around.

Pickens would bring in a solid comp pick and WRs are available in most drafts. Tolbert could be re-signed, and maybe he takes a leap to validate him as a WR2.

I actually think Diggs is let go and Bland gets signed. Pickens ends up being a rental because of he turns out showing his true colors. That's what I think will happen.
The Cowboys won't be able to pay Pickens even if he produces big. Him and Lamb would take up too much salary cap.
