Are You Still Afraid of a Shootout?

I keep hearing that fear repeated. Detroit scored three times in their opening drives. We responded and put up 42 points.

And haven't we already shown an ability to respond in high-scoring games? The PIT and Thanksgiving games come to mind. Now that Dak is getting more accurate and confident in deeper passes, and receivers are stepping up, I'm feeling even better about our chances.

We should always be afraid of shootouts, since it comes down to how many times we get to touch the ball. Could always end on the side of not enough. Had the Defense not found it's groove last night, could have been a different outcome. Great overall performance but I doubt we play THAT well, the rest of the way. I hope so, but doubt it.

There will be teams that hold promise to test us in terms of keeping up with them scoring-wise.

Dak is apparently making steady progress for becoming increasingly more adept with that skill.

I'm not nearly as apprehensive as I might have been earlier in his career. We seem good to go.

The biggest problem is we were in a shootout with a non-shootout team. Having said that, getting too excited one way or another about a meaningless game is probably not too wise.

This is the kind of beating we should have laid on the Bucs last week ... except those penalties killed us.

We kept the penalties down last night, and see the results. A nice fat 40 burger.

Last night's performance DID remind me of that 2014 offense in December. That group AVERAGED over 40 while sweeping December
This defense is better than that one....and the pass rush is peaking.
Zeke is definitely more explosive than Murray was.
Dak and the WRs were brilliant last night.

Sky is the limit, folks.:flagwave:

I don't know if afraid is the right word, but Atlanta shootout i would rather avoid if Julio jones is 100% healthy.

Same but we did well against Mike Evans and AJ Green both this year and that gives me hope against Atlanta.

What scares me about Atlanta is if they get Freeman going. That guy just bullied us last year and then Julio became unstoppable because of it.

I always feel like we could score in the 40s, minimum, without penalties.

This juggernaut is peaking at just the right time in all phases. I even enjoyed seeing McFadden back there on KR. Opposing teams will have plenty to prepare for.. More than they can handle.

The Lions aren't a shootout team, and they have the worst corners in the NFL when Slay is out.

Against Aaron Rodgers yes, Matt Ryan no. Matty ice will melt late in the 4th, while Dak will get sharper and sharper.

I'm afraid of the Patriots and a good offensive line.

The Raiders have a great offensive line but they won't have Carr. Same with the Dolphins.

Of the non-eliminated teams, feel like our defensive line can handle the Seahawks, Giants, Detroit, and the Bucs.

In the NFC, that leaves the Falcons, Packers and Commanders that scare me.

Anytime you're involved in a shootout you can be shot down. You're relying on your offense to answer every TD your opponent scores and that's a dangerous way to live. Our D started stepping up right before the first half ended and they continued to step up throughout the second half helping us coast to a win. You don't want to be involved in games where whoever has the ball last is likely to win. In the playoffs you have to play solid defense if you want to win the SB. The team whose defense steps up is the most likely team to be hoisting the Lombardi.

Ryan is having a great year and led Atlanta to the NFC title game in 2012 playing a great game with almost 400 yards passing against SF but it was his defense that melted in the second half. Ryan has Julio Jones at his disposal who's had over 1300 yards this season despite missing 2 games.

That's the thing though. No one expected a shootout with the Lions and it happened. We all expect a shootout with the like of the Falcons so it probably wont. That's the way things work sometimes.

I thought you wanted McFadden cut.

2 teams scare me and that's NE and Atlanta. Atlanta because of the backs they have and NE because of Belichek with 2 weeks practice and Brady. ;)
