I can't wait to see him running the ball again for us, now that our offensive line is starting to open up running lanes.

I love Barber, but running talent wise, Julius Jones is on a completely different level.

I uploaded the JJ section of Calico's Epic Backs video for your guys' enjoyment, all the links go to the same file.

He looked good in the first half of the last Eagles game. All he needs are some holes. If the O line plays like it did the last time (and against the Cards) and opens holes for him, I expect him to average better than 4.5 ypc and have 100 yards easily - even sharing some carries with Barber.

Just wondering, if JuJo comes in and continues to put up pedestrian numbers does that mean the OL started "blocking crappy" again, or will he actually get some of the blame.

Again, just wondering.

When he's had holes he's run well. I fully expect him to do well if the O line is blocking fairly well. It was obvious in the first Eagles game that the run blocking was starting to improve, he had some decent running lanes in that game. Had he not gotten hurt he would have easily eclipsed 100 yards - he was up to 72 at halftime.

What percent is JJ? Is he 100% healthy?

Nobody knows for sure, although I doubt Thomas would have been released if JJ wasn't close to 100%. He started practicing again late last week, so I think he'll be fine come game time.

I think you missed my point. When Barber ran well two games in a row several people claimed that the OL all of the sudden started blocking great.

I don't agree with that. JuJo was running tentative and missed several open holes, instead running into the back of his OL. He also didn't explode through the holes he did hit like he did last year.

And you're pointing out ONE game he ran well. And that didn't really happen till he had that big run. Maybe he needed that to juice him up or something. But the fact is it wasn't all on the OL the previous games. JuJo wasn't running well before he got hurt.

I think he was trying to be patient, which is something Parcells seems to preach. I personally prefer the RB to hit the line a bit harder, but Julius was waiting for holes to develop. When they did he took off and did well. But too many times there really wasn't any place to run. I think he'll do fine, and I fully expect it to be obvious that he's our best RB. The line has definitely been better at opening holes since the first Eagles game. There have been some running lanes, which were really lacking in the first 4 games or so. I think our line needed some time to gel, especially on the right side. If Flozell had stayed healthy I think they'd really be hitting their stride right now, but even with the loss of Flo I think the improvement on the right side has opened up the running game a lot.

It's also no coincidence that Bledsoe's performance has slowed ever since JJ has been out of the lineup. Barber has run well against 7 man fronts, and I'll give him credit for that. But Barber simply does not posess the tools to make opposing defenses worry about him more than Bledsoe and the passing game.

I'm always wary of backup RB's coming in and putting up a good YPC filling in for the starter.

I am thrilled to have him back. If he picks up where he left off against the Eagles last month, then our running game will be just nasty.

I don't see anything in common between Barber and Hambrick. Barber has pretty good moves, very good power and pretty good speed - Hambrick had no moves, no power and poor speed. Barber also has vision, which THam seemed to totally lack. Barber is also a much better receiver. I can't think of anything that THam did better than Barber, or even as well.

I just wish JJ would run like he did last year. He ran with more confidence and authority. This year there is a noticable difference. JMO but none of that has anything to do with the O-line.

In THam's defense, he was hell on LB's in blitz pickup. He didn't just block them, he actually punished them.

He's going to be real close to 100% i think. High Ankle Sprain usually takes about 4 weeks to heal completely. That's how much time he's had. What a blessing MB3 turned out to be. Barber is a better receiver, blocking is about the same, but in terms of a running threat, Jones gets the nod. Jones is a breakaway threat, and we all know that. Barber not so much. You wan't to keep a defense honest, you better have weapons that can hurt you in the run and the pass.

But then if they tried to hit him, he tiptoed out of bounds...

Barber has looked pretty good and he gives us a nice alternative but I'm glad that JJ will be back.

I look for JJ to have a MONSTER game. In the 130 to 150 yard range. Remember he had 72yrds at the half last time...
