Ariel Castro pleads not guilty

Now if you want to give up your rights, that is fine by me but most people do not.

If you feel that strongly about someone abducting him, why not put your money where your mouth is and do it yourself?

I will give up my rights if I abduct someone against their will, brutalize and rape them for years.

As a matter of fact, if you hear that I have done something like that, go ahead and put a bullet in my head, .. you have my permission.

As to your 2nd suggestion, ... really ??

:laugh2: Actually I had plans to do so until I thought, .. who would rape him, and decided not to ?? [/sarcasm]

Every time I see that you have posted in a thread that I have posted in:
  1. I can't wait to see what you put,
  2. I know you have quoted me and that you have disagreed with whatever in the world I have posted.
Like clockwork.

I have this for you

OJ Simpson

You can blame the police for that one...

What a dousche.

Just accept responsibility and rot.

Doesn't stand a chance of succeeding, just face it and accept your punishment.

Can't imagine it will take long to get a ruling on this one.

I would have said you are right, until I read through this thread and realized there are people that care about his rights, and that he gets a fair trial.

I think it's pretty obvious that this guy needs to rot in a cell for the rest of his life, but then again I'm only privy to the information provided on television. Even still this seems to be a slam dunk for prosecutors.

But, hey, you never know what may be revealed by a trial.

No. He needs to get what he gave / got.

Put him in prison for 30 years. General population - no parole.
Let them have at him.

If he survives try him on the other charges.
Simple.

To my untrained eye, he and his lawyer(s) are trying to position for a plea-bargain.

And if he gets one, its on the prosecution

The Prosecutor has already mentioned the "death penalty". That started the positioning. Now team Castro replies. The "game" here is about the death penalty or team Castro avoiding it.

My opinion is that this is not going to trail and team Castro will ultimately accept a life sentence without parole in an environment that will not put him in contact with the general prison population.

I don't think team Castro has any interest in this going to trial. The victims probably do not either... for obvious reasons.

Let me guess, the legal system only works if you convict those charged right?

So it worked for David Millgaard, Donald Marshall and Guy Paul Morin? Don't know their names, well google them marine.

what?

everything you think you know about this you learned third hand.

you realize how easy it would be for the government to convince the general public a given person is guilty?

we need a trial so my peers can verify evidence first hand.

you might want a return of the Star Chamber, but I don't!!!!! man, how quickly people want to turn their backs to our system. It really makes me sad!

Take care that this thread doesn't veer off topic, become politically charged, or get into a territory where people are getting or feeling insulted. It's a good offtopic offseason discussion in the slow period between here and camp. Don't let it cross the line, please.

I can't believe how many people in North America are so ready and willing to give up rights. It is like an argument a bunch of the lawyers in my office had where some actually had no problem with a cop typing their licence plate in at a red light even without reasonable cause. Their answer was since I am doing nothing wrong, why should I care. I just roll my eyes at those who are willing to give up rights so easily.

this topic is politically charged from the very first post. it really doesn't belong here but i could not disagree more strongly with the op's position, so I replied anyway.

Valid point.

No system is going to be perfect.

The "Memphis 3" and "Emmitt Till" cases are good examples of it not working, but I can't conceive of anything being better.
