JONESBORO - Arkansas State has had a football player selected in each of the past four NFL drafts.
This April, Derek Newton hopes to make it five.
Newton, a 2-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection for the Red Wolves, is training in Boca Raton, Fla., for a couple of events that will further expose him to NFL teams. He will play in the NFL Players Association All-Star game on Feb. 5 in San Antonio, Texas. ASU offensive line coach Darren Hiller said Newton has also received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine in late February at Indianapolis.
