Arm strength

I think after last night we can put the dak can't throw deep to bed. He threw 2 absolute rockets while in the middle of a dead run. Can we please at least put that myth to bed? Please

What I'm hearing is not that anyone is questioning his arm strength on deep balls, but the lack of touch. He can wing it down there as well as anyone, but he doesn't put a lot of air under the ball, thus resulting in the WR having less time to make an adjustment or "run under the ball".

Then again - and my wife will confirm this - I could be wrong.

It only looks like were forcing it because Dez doesnt get much separation. They have a great secondary.

uh, if Dez isn't getting separation, and you throw it to him anyway, that is a textbook definition of forcing it to him.

Is the complaint that he can't throw deep or is it that he doesn't throw deep to challenge defenses from the pocket?

I think it has to be the later. I mean, anybody who watched him play at Mississippi State could immediately tell that he has an arm. He is not a weak armed QB. Not the strongest I've ever seen, not like Aikman's arm but plenty of Arm strength to make any throw. His accuracy was always the question, with the deeper throws and driving the ball with accuracy. To be honest, I don't even think it's that he doesn't like to. I think that he is coached to get rid of the ball and to protect the ball at all times. That's not a bad thing. That's actually really good. I don't fault him for not wanting to chuck it up. Bad things happen when you do that and that's why you call them 50/50 balls. We were lucky that those things didn't happen last night because that does happen in the NFL. But you have to test the defense deep. In the NFL, it's a must thing. If you don't, they will squeeze you till you only have a very small amount of the filed to work with and then, they will shut you down. He just has to learn how to play in the NFL, how to take advantage of those opportunities. That's the difference between being a Vet and being a young QB. He will make some bad throws and he will eventually throw some INTs. We, IMO, just have to understand that it's part of him becoming a great QB.

His arm strength looks night and day better from last season.
Definitely an improvement from last year. I think he only hit 54mph in the combine. That's VERY average. It seems he has certainly added some velocity since last season.

It happens.

Aaron Rodgers absolutely transformed himself his arm while sitting on the bench in GB his first 3 years. Coming in the league Rodgers was considered to have an OK arm. Now look at the guy.

Prescott strikes me as being "all in" for becoming the best player he can be. Getting better physically is one manifestation of that.

Dak is certainly struggling a bit, does not seem to be as crisp as last year. He does though appear to excel when throwing from outside the pocket
Struggles happen when you haven’t had a clean pocket. It’ll get better. September is like an extended version of TC.

That's right.

He plays like he has Bill Parcells in his ear.

Supposedly he added 3mph to his velocity this offseason

Was there an arm strength question?

He's cautious with the ball, that's why he throws short so much, not because he's physically unable.
Not a real question

Its something that is mentioned by certain posters in an effort to discredit him

Daks ball velocity at the combine was 54 MPH, well above the threshold. If he did indeed at 3 MPH, that would equal Wentz's ball velocity

The pocket he is throwing from in the last two games has been muddled to nonexistent... I don't think the "sharpness" or lack thereof is due to Dak. I think it's the protection. Thank god he can move and throw on the move or we'd be dead.

He is still throwing high on short routes across the middle. I don't know why, but this seems to be a continued trend.

Oh there was. A few here even called him noodle armed. And inaccurate downfield. I refuse to name names. They know who they are. And are really quiet today
I'll speak up then. He's inaccurate too much. Needs to improve. But a win is a win.

The argument was never if he can throw the ball deep, but the zip on his passes. There is a difference.

....Kellen Moore may even be able to get the ball 50 yards down the field. I care more about how fast the ball is getting to players on out routes and other intermediate throws. I care more about the accuracy on deep balls, most NFL QBs can make deep throws.

These were deep, accurate and fast. So looks like he's checking off some boxes.

There are questions if Dak has the arm strength to consistently fit balls into tight coverage. It makes it even worse when his footwork is still not where it needs to be.

I would say Dak has pretty average arm strength. I say his positive is that he scans the field well and locates the open man, or at least he did that well last year.

That’s what I’m asking? I don’t ever remember seeing questions regarding his arm strength. True haters may ***** about anything and grasp for straws, thus the arm strength question? Dude has a legit NFL arm. He’s not Brett Favre but who the hell is?

Don't think Dak will never be as accurate as Romo. His motion is not near as compact.

Nor do I think Dak's arm is any better than Romo's was.
