Arm talent

It’s a misnomer to think “arm talent” is solely about throwing it hard/far.

It’s also very much about being able to throw it consistently through passing windows, on time, hitting receivers in stride.

How many times have we seen Dak throw behind a receiver on a crossing route? Some of those passes fall incomplete or even when completed don’t account for lost yardage by connecting w/the WR in stride. Or, when throwing a simple screen a ball is thrown low or high forcing the receiver to gather instead of heading up field.

Dak has horrible mechanics, he is close to McNabb when his career was winding down and all the hits he took caused him to have bad lower body mechanics. Dak has a quick release when everything is good but when he feels pressure his release goes from quick to molasses, he has to load up to throw it out. As for accuracy he has improved but still has a lot of his passes off the mark whether too high, too late, too early, etc.

Gee, I thought Brady and Rodgers were elite.

Guess not, since their teams lost.

The "elite" quarterback that can win regardless of the talent around them and the coaching does not, has not, and will never exist...
Get with the thread dude. This is about QBs that make the plays when it matters. Like Allen and Mahoones did. I have never seen a game where two QBs played so well. It literally came down to who had the ball last.

Then you must not have watched much football, it's happened before, more than once.

And if you don't think my post belongs here then you're free to not comment on it.....

Pftt..

There's a QB in the NFL that makes 40M a year and he doesn't have a cannon, isn't accurate, and he can't read defenses...

All those things are overrated..

What you really need is a mouth piece and a good PR team in order to be a "good" QB nowadays
LOL, That was funny...and true

Yeah, the pass I think he clearly struggles with is the slant or crossing routes. He has a tendency to throw behind his receivers and like I mentioned oftentimes when he does connect it’s not in stride with the receiver and nullifies YAC.

Jimmy Garrapolo has been terrible this post season. The 49ers are winning in spite of him. Through 2 games he has completed only 61.4% of his throws for 303 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. It isn't as if he was very good in 2019 when the 49ers made it to the Superbowl. He has won 3 career playoff games in which he did not throw a TD pass. It is amazing he is in his second NFC championship game. He is definitely the outlier in good QB play is needed to get deep into the playoffs.
