Radio host Art Bell dies at 72 in Pahrump home

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Radio host Arthur William Bell passed away Friday, April 13.

Arthur Bell, also known as Art Bell was the original owner of Pahrump based radio station KNYE 95.1 FM. And perhaps best known for his conspiracy theory in the paranormal, with his radio show "Coast to Coast" - which was syndicated across the nation.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office says Bell died at his home in Pahrump, Nevada.

Bell is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death.

Wow, this is sad news. I started listening to Coast2Coast in the 1990s. Couldn't get enough of Bell. He had that great voice, and knew his stuff on all things paranormal. Gonna miss his laugh or chuckle he use to do. Hope he finds peace wherever he goes.

I knew of him slightly back in the 90's but I only start listening to some of his stuff just 1 year ago ( on you tube). Great radio personality indeed and smart individual.
RIP.Roswell Art ( as he liked to be greeted).

I've spent untold hours after midnight at my reloading bench& bottle of scotch whiskey listening to " coast to coast",,,although some of his show 'callers' were COO-KOO X12,,,,that's fer' sure.

Informative at a time, but some staged stuff too I think ( like caller JC) it is pure entertainment.
He was obsessed with the subject of paranormal.I bet bellgab site will miss him a lot.

LoL,,,this might be a bit off topic
( or not) but I remember watching the " public access " channei back in the Early 90's and some of the air time people were granted was just bizarre, others hilarious & most just flat out stupid,,, but I distinctly recall one, where some refined elderly gentleman was going to prove he could reanimate a dead fish & bring it back to life & professionally serious about it,he pulled out a frozed gutted 12" trout wrapped in saran wrap from the freezer, and did some kind of test with an ohm/ voltage tester ( that kind weird stuff) & going on about letting the fish slowly thaw out at room temperature, and then with the entrails missing/ long discarded, he had discovered any similar sized entrails would suffice, he'd found chicken guts seemed to facilitate his process the best,so he stuffed that trout with a fistful of livers& gizzards & sews it up with a needle and thread,,,now you gotta understand this dude is straight faced& dead serious thru out his reanimating procedure ,like a college professor giving a lecture, he'd done all kinds of weird, weird stuff,I think he shot it up with Alka-Seltzer with a hypodermic needle ,I think he put it in a washing machine on agitate cycle,,,anyway at the end it shows him turning a live brown trout of 12" loose into a stream and watching it swim away:lmao:
Now after witnessing that,I'd pretty much regulated the majority of Art BELLS radio show 'callers' into the same category as Public Access Fish reanimator Guyo_O

:lmao::lmao2::lmao:

Art Williams was a Capt. in the Marine Corps, actually married a Marine DI. Served in Vietnam as a Medic, attached to the Air Force. He actually got his start in Radio, while in the Service. He operated a Pirate Station and played a lot of Anti War Music that was very popular, at the time, but not acceptable on Armed Forces Radio.

Williams set a Guiness Book, World Record by staying on the air for over a 116 hours. With monies raised by that, he was able to Charter a DC-8 to Saigon and rescue 130 Orphans, stranded at the end of the War. Those Orphans eventually came back to the U.S. and were adopted by American Families.

Condolences to the Williams Family.

Here is a little tune to commemorate his life.

I was never a big fan of Art Bell, but its nice to know he did more in his life to help others than 99% of the people who criticized him.

I'd re- verify some of that sourced info ABQ! MEDICS in the corps are all straight naval personal, navy corpman, and are attached to line/field companies, pretty sure if the Marines had an M.O.S. for medic they wouldn't field navy personal,,, but being the rank of Captain, he might have been able to do a lot of things in the H&S division

I am completely aware of the fact that the Marines use Navy Corpsman. While serving as a Medic, Williams was attached to the Air Force and they do use Medics. He must have double dipped or been TDY to the Air Force.

Edit:

Hey Melonfeud, I reread my post and it comes off as a little dismissive. That was not my intention. I should have said, "Yeah, I am aware that the Marines use Navy Corpsman", instead of "I am completely aware". I just wanted you to know that I didn't mean to come across that way. TY
