ARTICLE: Best and Worst NFL Team draft picks - Ever... NFC East Only

Shante Carver was rated a 1st rd pick by most, he was not a huge reach

the worst 1st rd pick I can remember since watching the team would probably be Rod Hill...as I recall some had the guy rated as a 2nd day pick, and we chose him in the first rd

1995 (3 bad picks in 2nd rd after trading out of the 1st), 1996 (trading down for Kastinka Pittman and Clay Shiver when we could have had Tony Brackens) and the Q-Bong/Tony Dixon fiasco in 2001 were also pretty bad

David

You won't get any argument from me esp Hill. They had made so many bold and off the wall picks that were successful I was thinking they wanted to make some kind of statement. Rod Hill was as off the wall as they came. The first work out warrior to fail.

How can anyone say Carl Lewis in the 12th round was our worst pick ever when we selected the licks of Shante Carver, Danny Noonan and David Lafleur in the 1st.

Wow, have the Skins really had that many first round busts? Man, I guess they did, lol

i wouldnt say ramseys a bust- he may not be john elway, but i think he can play.

gardner had one decent year, but i'd still call him a bust. no doubt OL andre johnson was a major bust.

as for the cowboys, i think parcells did well. but jerry jones draft record is probably worse than the skins under snyder.

;)
just sayin.

nah, it was that other dude, I think he was a coach or something. Liked Blair Thomas and Steve Walsh more than Emmitt Smith and Aikman for quite awhile.
Think his name was Jimmy something...

..."After Jones parted ways with Jimmy Johnson in 1994--in the wake of saying that any of 500 coaches would have won the Super Bowl with the talent-laden Cowboys in 1992 and '93--the owner gave himself full authority of the football side of the franchise. In addition to his ownership duties, he was the team's general manager, hiring and firing three head coaches and running a draft-day war room that has yielded only one Pro Bowler since 1995.

Jones did win Super Bowl 30 in 1995 with Barry Switzer as his head coach, but that championship was achieved with the nucleus Johnson had built. Since then, the Cowboys are 49-63 over all and 1-3 in three playoff appearances. They haven't reached the playoffs since 1999 and haven't won a playoff game since 1996.

That is the reason a "change in philosophy," paying more than $1 million per season to a head coach for the first time and relinquishing at least some of his power. "I've made a lot of mistakes," says Jones, who has owned the Cowboys since 1989. "You know I have."...

outstanding.

fortunately, i dont suffer from delusions of grandeur when it comes to my teams owners draft record, which, while not great, is still better than jones.

between 95 and 2002, snyder drafted more than one player who has made a pro bowl. and hes only owned the team since 99. thats a good start.
