Article: Humbled Henson Pours Himself Into Opportunity

Hugh Douglass had a fine career with the Eagles even though Bill didn't like him. Yes his judgement is good. It is not, however, perfect.
Not to take the thread off topic, but that situation was about fitting a round peg into a square hole. Bill took over that team and decided to switch to the 3-4. When he did that, Hugh Douglas simply didn't fit, so he traded him. I do think Bill let a talented player go then, but he knew that he wouldn't fit the system so he got what he could (which I think was a 2nd and a 4th, but I could be wrong?)

Edit: clearly I should have finished reading the rest of the thread, because two others jumped on the same point that I just made. :)

Emmitt Smith. Nuff said.

Yeah, I never understood that one. Even a late in his career Emmitt Smith was much better than sorry Hambrick.

What'd he do once he left Dallas?

Smith would have undermined what Parcells was trying to do in the lockerroom.

Can't build a team when the "leader" is off playing dominoes in the lockerroom.

Jerry Jones cut Emmitt, 1st of all, not BP

and was EMmitt worth 10 mil for '03? I think not
