So I guess it's Springs, Rogers, Smoot, Macklin then?

Rather than the Bly, Rogers, Smoot lineup which was talked about at one point.

Commanders are obviously making their defensive backfield a priority.

Which seems kind of stupid to me. Hoenstly, I dont think you can put THAT much blame on the secondary last year.

If you give a QB 6 seconds to pas EVERY down, he is going to find someone. While we did have a lack of talent back there last year, I think a bigger priority should be defensive line and finding a pass rusher then this.

Get used to it.

Vinny hasn't drafted a Dlineman in freaking forever. I doubt he changes his ways for Gaines Adams.

Absolutely agree.

The defensive line needs to be improved for the Commanders' defense to be better.

Andre Carter proved to not be the answer last year.

Gaines Adams would be a nice fit, but I think Detroit may have their sights set on him after a slight trade down.

MACKLIN GIVES 'SKINS A DISCOUNT

The Washington Commanders have a reputation for overpaying free agents. On Thursday, a free agent specifically took less money for a chance to join the team.

Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, cornerback David Macklin rejected more lucrative offers from the Chiefs and Eagles to sign a one-year, $760,000 deal with the 'Skins.

Macklin accepted the lower deal because he is from Newport News, Virginia, and grew up as a Commanders fan. Also, Macklin always wanted to play for Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs.

Macklin is a seven-year veteran who spent the first fiour seasons of his career with the Colts and the last three with the Cardinals. He started the last six games of the 2006 season in Arizona.

Mack was okay. To many dumb PI calls, and his play went down yearly. He was a nice signing at the time, but with the Hood signing (still don't like that) he became expendable. Met his parents at the Cowboys Cards game in Dallas 2 years ago. Nice folks. Maybe I'll see them again at the Skins game, as I'll be there. Don't know why he didn't choose the Saints.

Carter had some transition problems, but really came on in the later part of 06. I'm on a wait and see for this year...

He was changing from an 3-4 OLB to a 4-3 DE. Take a look at the game log if you don't believe me.

First 8 games... 15 tackles, 2 sacks
Last 8 games... 41 tackles, 4 sacks

He really came on in the last 5 games more then anything else...
33 tackles, 4 sacks

Nice pickup by the Skins, they should be alright at CB.

Wow, just in case you didn't read the fine... I mean normal print, I said came on in the last 5 games... 33 tackles, 4 sacks.
That's 6.6 tackles and .8 sacks. The point being is as he got more time, he got better.

So to come on, you have to sack the QB every game? Well I guess nobody but Merriman was ever "on" this whole season. Thanks, I'll notify the league.
