Not a good start to the offseason for the Eagles organization...

A TV station said a gun was found in Britt Reid's car, and another in a search of the Reid home Tuesday night.

Police in two suburban municipalities and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are continuing investigations into separate traffic incidents involving two of Eagles coach Andy Reid's sons.

The first incident, on Tuesday morning, involved Britt Reid, a second man, and a gun. Law enforcement officials would not say who possessed the weapon.

NBC10, quoting a law enforcement source, reported last night that investigators found a gun in Britt Reid's car, and a platinum handgun during a search of the Reid home Tuesday night in Villanova. That gun was reportedly in a lockbox in the basement.

When asked last night if a search warrant had been served on the Reid home, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said: "West Conshohocken police served two search warrants yesterday... . I will not comment on what was found during the course of the search."

In the second traffic incident, police said they found Garrett Reid in possession of drug paraphernalia after he was involved in an automobile accident Tuesday afternoon.

The Reids and the Eagles declined to discuss the incidents.

"The Reid family does not have any comment at this point," Derek Boyko, an Eagles team spokesman, said yesterday.

The incident involving Britt Reid, 21, was a confrontation with another man on Matson Ford Road in West Conshohocken. The second man has not been identified.

"There was a report of an incident where a gun was displayed," said Ferman. She would not say who handled the weapon.

Local police would say only that they were investigating an incident involving Britt Reid.

Later Tuesday, Garrett Reid, 23, drove his Jeep Liberty SUV through a red light at Germantown Pike and Arch Road in Plymouth Township and collided with a Ford Taurus, police said.

The other driver, a 55-year-old woman from Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after the midafternoon accident.

She was treated late Tuesday night and released. Police have not identified her.

During the investigation, drug paraphernalia was found on Garrett Reid, according to Joseph Lawrence, deputy police chief for Plymouth Township. Speed was a factor in the accident, police said.

Garrett Reid, who was not injured in the accident, submitted to alcohol and drug testing. Results will be available in a few weeks.

According to official state electronic court records, in 2001, Garrett Reid pleaded guilty to three speeding charges, operating a vehicle without a valid inspection, and disregarding a traffic-control device in Radnor Township.

In April, Britt Reid pleaded guilty to speeding in Philadelphia and was fined $132.50.

Britt Reid is also a defendant in a lawsuit involving a Wynnewood man, Murray Nathanson, who says he was injured in a 2002 accident involving Reid.

Do you realize how many such stories are published every day about lesser known people?

It's news whether it involved Andy Reid or Joe Reid from N. Philly. The fact that these incidents involve an NFL head coach's sons makes it slightly bigger news.

Let's not cast stones so fast - who of us, when we were 21 year old coaches sons, DIDN'T roll with guns and drug paraphernalia?

Sad thing is that there are people who will look at this and say: "So what if they had guns and drugs?"

The kid lives near Philadelphia, PA, having a gun is like carrying chapstick or a penknife in your pocket, it is a necessity.

Who could expect a young man to grow up in Philadelphia and not have a gun ?

Give the kid a break :laugh2:

Maybe we can get Tank Johnson's take on this.

Guess there are just different attitudes towards 'He had a gun!'. Down here it doesn't seem like such a big issue. My immediate circle of friends are pretty well armed. If he wasn't doing something violent with it, it isn't that much of an issue to me. Don't care much about the drug angle, UNLESS he was driving while loaded. Very uncool.

Certainly if it was somehow Cowboys coach kid related, we would be hearing it from the naysayers.

When they find a gun in their car.

I can't believe that it is illegal to have a gun in your car!

Must be why I live in the great state of NM.

Your car is considered an extention of your house, therefore it is only illegal to have a firearm in your vehicle if your are breaking the law in some other capacity.

Plus it is legal to carry a gun anywhere but a bar, if you were it in plain site. But you can get a concealed carry permit for $100.00 every 3 years.

And one of the lowest violent crime rates in the nation. Go Figure!

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

Its totally legal here in WV also. When will the media realize the its our right as an American citizen to have a firearm. I have a concealed permit which will allow me to carry a gun just about anywhere except in schools. You can also carry a gun (unloaded) in a vehicle uncased before sunset and cased after sunset without any special permits. All this crap about guns just drives me nuts. WV also has one of the lowest crime rates in the US.Like the saying goes if you outlaw guns(which the media wants)only outlaws will have them.

WV Gun control= Kean eye and steady hand.

It's one thing to pack...kinda another thing when someone seemingly pulls one on someone.

Maybe it's just me. I kinda find those things not cool.

What is the big deal about guys owning guns? Finding a gun in someone's house is not a news worthy item IMO. If they came to my house they would find more guns than they did in Tank (What-his-names) house. I have shotguns, rifles and handguns and have had them my whole life.

I just don't see anything news worthy about Reid or his sons having a gun in a lockbox in their basement. The gun in the car is only slightly more news worthy unless it was actually used to threaten someone or fired in public.
