ARTICLE: Report links Andy Reid's son to guns *merged*

What is the big deal about guys owning guns? Finding a gun in someone's house is not a news worthy item IMO. If they came to my house they would find more guns than they did in Tank (What-his-names) house. I have shotguns, rifles and handguns and have had them my whole life.

I just don't see anything news worthy about Reid or his sons having a gun in a lockbox in their basement. The gun in the car is only slightly more news worthy unless it was actually used to threaten someone or fired in public.
But that was the point Jack. It's not the fact the guy had a gun. It's that he was involved in an incident where a gun was allegedly displayed, which was the cause used to get a search warrant I'm sure. That's news to me regardless of the people involved.

I'm of the belief that you don't pull a weapon unless you plan to use it.

I know people are so fast to judge but ive done it before so im not, i never had a gun or did it even twice a month but still let the kids get help outside the media

I was just kidding. ;)

I see no circumstances short of being a hunter, driving to target practice, or being part of law enforcement where I would feel the need to have a gun in my car.

I can't believe that it is illegal to have a gun in your car!

Must be why I live in the great state of NM.

Your car is considered an extention of your house, therefore it is only illegal to have a firearm in your vehicle if your are breaking the law in some other capacity.

Plus it is legal to carry a gun anywhere but a bar, if you were it in plain site. But you can get a concealed carry permit for $100.00 every 3 years.

And one of the lowest violent crime rates in the nation. Go Figure!

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

Better be careful young man. Depending on which "county" you're passing thru there are several flavors of this. (at least 25 counties?) All require your weapon be in plain sight. Some also require that the ammo/clip be elsewhere, sometimes even locked up in your trunk or glove box. Not as easy to access is the thought.

So, before we jump to any conclusions I would like to know what the laws are, if the thing was loaded AND chambered to fire. Brandishing a weapon is flat out wrong unless you're forced to defend your life or that of your family. Chest thumping via a weapon is "kitty" in my book. That's not what they're for.

I find the whole gun thing funny come on I live in Texas home of a shotgun hanging in the gun rack of a pick up legally in plain sight and the ability to carry a concealed handgun with a license.

Heck the 2000 rounds of ammo is nothing that tank Johnson had at his house; come on that is like what the redneck has in one drawer

It seems to be a wee bit more than just having a gun in his possession.

PHILADELPHIA - February 1, 2007 - Police documents paint an ugly picture of the Reid boys as drug-crazed, reckless drivers, armed and dangerous.

Police say Andy Reid's eldest son admits he was high on heroin when he smashed into another car.

Police say 23-year-old Garrett Reid blew the red light and plowed into a Ford Taurus.

A police report obtained by Action News indicates East Norriton police clocked him at close to 20 miles an hour over the speed limit and saw him weaving in and out of traffic.

The officer tried to stop him, but lost him. A short time later, Reid collided with the other car.

When police looked in Reid's SUV they saw the type of scale commonly used in drug trafficking under the rear bench seat, an ammunition container in the rear compartment and the butt of a handgun sticking out from under the driver's seat.

When they patted down Reid they found used hypodermic needles and a knife in his pocket.

Police say Reid seemed to be high.

They say he did not follow simple directions, appeared to be very calm and could not understand what was told to him.

Sources close to the investigation say police did not arrest Reid at the scene because some of the drugs in the car were prescription drugs, others needed to undergo testing, and they recognized the gun as a b-b gun.

However, police also say in two signed statements Reid acknowledged he used heroin that day and possessed drug paraphernalia.
Reid's younger brother, Britt, spent the day huddled with lawyers.

Only Action News was there when 21-year-old Britt Reid left his lawyer's office.

Five hours before his brother's accident, police say Britt was involved in a road rage incident at a West Conshohocken intersection.

The other driver says Reid pointed a silver handgun at him, smiled and then drove off.

That night police searched Reid's room at his parents' house and found a silver handgun that matches the description. They also found boxes of hollow tipped bullets.

Police also searched the SUV that Britt was driving at the time.

Inside, they found a shotgun and boxes of ammo.

They also found what appeared to be drugs, a clear container with white powder, 8 plastic bags with residue of white powder and a pill bottle with a green leafy substance inside.

They've got lawyers, guns and money, but the Reid boys are clearly in hot water, although no charges have been filed.

The Reids' attorney, William Winning, issued this statement: "We are fully cooperating with law enforcement officials...and will continue to do so. Until these matters are resolved, however, neither the Reid family or I will have any further comment and we ask that the privacy of the Reid family be respected."

its a family matter not a media blitz....just another reporter exploiting famlies issues to get his name in the headlines....

and just how is it a cowboyszone issue....

Looks like mommy and daddy has lost control over their kiddies. They're probably spoiled brats. They are pretty much set because their dad coaches an NFL team and this is how they act? Wow.
