As many of us have watch over the years the Cowboys not the playoffs. How do you really feel about this team chances this year? Whatever reason they don't make the playoffs. Should Garrett be held accountable and not brought backk next year or call it progress from previous years and given a 4 year contract because you believe the team is headed in the right direction.

As a Cowboys fan...I would really wait until the season is over before I start talking and thinking about Signing the Ginger to another contract. I would also FIRST like to see if they can keep Linehan, Callahan and Rod before I make my decision.

I feel good about this year, and the chances are great, or normally would be.
Except that there are other teams playing well right now too, and have an equal chance.

Of all years, say we do get to 10-6 or 11-5, and miss the playoffs. Arizona knows that all too well from last year. That would suck.

What the NFL did do right in scheduling, was having late season division games. The NFC West have a lot of games against each other these last 4 games. 1 or 2 or even 3 [SF] of those teams could be knocked out by week 17.

Detroit and GB have easy schedules, but do play in week 17 at GB. Hopefully each of them get upset and drop a game or 2.

We need a defense that can hold the other team to nine points or less because Romo holds us to about 10 when we face better competition..

Pretty silly huh? That's how it sounds everytime somebody complains about the hodge podge defense we have while the offense is built and paid to take on China itself...

I'm not impressed when we blowout inferior teams like the Bears. I wanna see us put up 35+ against somebody like Green Bay, New England, or maybe Philly..

Unless they lose out and look terrible. He stays.

Kind of how I feel at this point.

Unless they go 0-3 down the stretch and lose out on the playoffs simply because they just sucked it up to end then year then I think he stays.

If they go 2-1 down the stretch and finish up 11-5 but miss the playoffs because of the tie breakers and the fact that a losing team is getting in for being division champion of a crap division then I don't see him being let go.

Our offensive weapons are talented enough to beat the bad teams with our vanilla plays. Those same vanilla plays disallow this team to beat the good teams.

The days of winning a game 17-10 are long gone. the NFL doesn't want that anymore.

Jerry needs to adapt and stop talking to his old-timer friends who long for the old days of football.

The Cowboys have exceeded almost every Cowboys fan expectations so far this year. Hard to get rid of the HC when things are finally looking up. Is he perfect? No. Does he make mistakes? Yes. But we are getting better and have a bright future IMO.

Jerry didn't fire him after 3 straight years at .500

He won't fire him after getting 10 plus wins.

I think they'll put themselves into position by beating the Eagles after they come off of a loss to the Seahawks. Then they'll blow that losing to the Colts. No division, no wild card. Then we'll be left to debate whether progress was really made. 11 wins but the same result.

The team has clearly made progress this season over the past 3 seasons under Garrett. Regardless what happens the final 3 games the Cowboys are going to have their first winning season since 09 but for him to keep his job if I were in charge the Cowboys would have to win at least one more game. It would be hard for me to fire a head coach who won 10 games after only winning 8 games their previous 3 seasons even if the team misses the playoffs. A 10 win season would have won the East the previous 3 seasons. After being 8-3 a 9-7 season just isn't going to be acceptable and even 10 wins would be disappointing but a 10-6 season would be enough progress for me to bring Garrett back.

I said it at the beginning of the season and I'l say it again: If they stay healthy in the key areas, this is a playoff team. If they lose Romo, Smith, Fred, Dez, Murray, R. McClain, Scandrick, or Bailey for an extended period they are done. I predicted 10-6 (with a healthy team) and I'm sticking to it. ;)

They've already far exceeded expectations for this season based on the questionable talent on defense going into the season.

I'm fairly certain that Jerry was giving Garrett a pass for this season the minute that Jerry agreed to cut Ware. If Jerry expected to win this season, he would have kept Ware and pushed cap money into future years to do it.

I'm not weighing in one way or the other on Garrett, but it sure is funny how the criteria to extend him changes each week. Before the season began, I heard more than one person (some in media) say that if he goes 8-8 with this defense, he should be considered for coach of the year. Then when the team was 6-1 and everyone was riding high, it was he should get extended unless the team totally flames out the rest of the way. At 8-4, he didn't flamed out, but the criteria became "extend him unless he loses out". They won last night, and now it's "extend him unless he loses out" again. Not saying that was you, or anyone in particular, but just the fan base, in general. In a nutshell, it's comical.
