AS: Freak Alert As Cowboys Edge Rusher Hits Saquon-Level Speed After Knee Surgery

For whatever reason DQ wouldn’t play Sam. Yet every time he was in the game he was around the QB……
Yeah Voch or one of those video guys had a segment on him a couple of years ago. His win rate was awesome and Voch questioned why he wasn't used more.

I am expecting Sam Williams to have a breakout year - if he remains healthy. It is his contract year and I am certain he wants to get paid, but it will not be in Dallas. 2025 is his audition year for the rest of the league.
i have a feeling he’s going to shut quite a few folks up

It’s ok.

He will be on san fran or philly next year and Rambo will be preaching how it was a great pick and they were right not to overpay.
Philly has to prepare to pay Carter which is going to cost a fortune. He’ll want to be the highest paid interior defensive lineman. They’ll be losing significant free agents, again, not signing them.

lots of freak athletes fail as football players

so frankly I could care less about those that drool over them

This!! It was so frustrating to watch us have a great play on ST or on defense, only for Sam to get flagged for a personal foul. I hope he cuts back on that crap this season!!
True. But at that time, I think he was just excited to make a standout play.

We need him to step up this year and live up to his 2nd round status. Schoonmaker too.

Sam Williams is actually capable of posting a 10+ sack season if he can just stay on the field. He’s shown some juice in the pass rush department when he’s played.

Could be an X factor if he shows up.

Freak Alert As Cowboys Edge Rusher Hits Saquon-Level Speed After Knee Surgery

Sam Williams Sr. tore his ACL and partially tore his MCL last July 28 — just days into Dallas Cowboys training camp. Fast-forward less than a year, and he just posted the second-fastest speed on the team during mandatory minicamp: 21.4 miles per hour.

Only CeeDee Lamb ran faster (21.9 mph), and he’s, you know… built to run fast. Williams? He’s 260 pounds.

That, Cowboys Nation, a different galaxy of athleticism.

To put it into context, Philadelphia Eagles breakaway superstar Saquon Barkley’s fifth-fastest carry all season in 2024 was 21.9 mph.

Barkley is 230 pounds. Williams is 30 pounds heavier — and coming off knee surgery.

:starspin:

Why not football on the stick to simulate a real snap?

So clicking on all of those it's tough to get an original source. Anything coming from Athlon sports is to me like the National Enquirer and then it's also run on SI and Yahoo like the 3 have some type of agreement but linked back to Athlon Sports? Googling it only seems to find that one story.

But I guess speeding has never been the problem for Sam Wiliams... :D
This ^ Athlon is just regurgitated rumors or the misconstrue a quote, etc. Hack site and so is SI. I have a hard time believing SI is really SI but that’s another topic. Anything from Athlon you’re better off ignoring.

It's widely understood and statistics show players have some of their most productive seasons in a contract year, injury or not.

Sam reminds me a lot of Randy. Talent is there but just makes dumb mistakes that keeps him on the bench. This is a contract year for him so let’s see if he shows out

Correct. But I think he has the want to more than Randy. I believe he might have a solid year then get paid elsewhere. Some team will overpay for him , betting on him. In a contract year, I think he will be decent.

Sam Williams needs to have a breakout season for Micah's sake,

If Parsons is forced to play DE in over 80% of the snaps then he will be worthless by December.

The Cowboys desperately need another DE to take over so Parsons can roam at OLB or rest up.
