As long as nobody interviews T.O., Romo or Witten, we're OK. Yes our offensive coaches worked wonders with these players - something Bill Parcells and Todd Haley failed to do - but these players still had to execute. Now I'm not trying to downplay the importance of Sporano and Garrett to this offense; their coordination and play-calling is superb. And I would hate to lose either of them, but you still have to attribute much of the offense's success to the players for executing, and I don't think the media has done much justice to the players, when covering the stories about our coaches getting interviews and making it sound like they are the be-all-end-all, as if the players had nothing to do with our success on offense.

Yes you do, and as I mentioned, Parcells and Haley were the opposite of innovative (which is why I hope Parcells hires Haley to be his head coach in Miami - but that's for another thred). But what if we lose Sporano or Garrett, or both? Yes those would be big losses to the coaching staff, but there have to be other coaches out there that can be just as innovative should we lose our guys and have to replace them, right?

What does WR coach Todd Haley have to do with anything?

Difference in offensive output from 2006-2007 - 1.8 ppg.

Your boy Tony Sporano is the truth.

I don't think we can measure the importance of one part over another. It's very rare when all parts come together so well and things work.

Look at the 90's Cowboys. We can argue about Jimmy's doings, Jerry's doings, the players doing's, but it was a combination of all of their doings and it's important to realize what a team accomplishes.

This season's team was another rare instance of those elements coming together to make a great whole. I'm pretty sore at the idea of losing these guys.

You must not have been around during the 90s...

"Anyone of 100 coaches could coach this team"...how did that work out?

The Cowboys won the Super Bowl about 20 months later with a doofus as head coach.

That particular team was loaded, as was Jerry when he made that comment about 1 a.m. on a bar in Florida.

But I agree that who coaches your team is huge. I saw what Gailey did with Switzer's players (6-10 to 10-6) and saw what Parcells did with Campo's team (5-11 to 10-6).

I think Jerry places a lot more value on coaches now than he did in 1995.

We had many questions last offseason and they got answered. We'll have lots of questions this offseason and I'm sure they will get answered too.

This is a very talented team and I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would love to get their hands around this offense!

Stuck in the past much?

Oh, and it was 500, not 100.

Agree. A lot of coaches can coordinate an offense with Romo, T.O., Witten, Barber, etc.

FWIW, I think Sparano is gone, but I don't think Garrett is leaving.

The hysteria over losing coaches is overblown, imo. I don't like them interviewing during the post season just because it's bound to have some effect, but if they leave we will find offensive coaches who can coordinate this offense and call plays that will get T.O. and Witten the ball.

Good players make geniuses out of coaches.

I disagree.

This year vs Last year should be enough proof.

I understand your point, but Parcells was a different coach altogether, who was stuck with a coaching philosophy from the 70's. We wouldn't be hiring that kind of coach as a replacement.

True

But the point I was trying to get across is that who is calling the plays and coaching the inmates does matter.

Congratulations, that is indeed impressive. Especially since you were corrected on the "100 guys" thing.

It may not have made a difference in production, but there was a difference in attitude and team chemistry without Todd Haley. Apparently none of the wide receivers liked him. Keyshawn and T.O. both did not get along with them. I know those guys don't get along with many people. Key got along with Parcells while T.O. did not. I think it is very telling that both guys did not get along with Haley.

I had rather find someone to coach them then to find a player to be coached
