As much as the Cowboys pay Orton, he should be expected to win

I heard on the radio that last year Kyle Orton had the seventh highest salary on the Cowboys. That's ridiculously overpaying a backup quarterback, but that aside, for that dollar figure, he should be expected to win. Period. If you are going to pay that much for a backup quarterback (and I don't think you should), then it's for situations like this.

If Orton and the Cowboys don't win tonight's game, then his signing has been a complete failure.

One player cannot win the game by himself. It will take collective effort by all three component of the team and the coaching staff.

How's that? We've spent tons of money on a guy that doesn't play, when that money could have been going to the offensive or defensive line. He should be expected to deliver when the time comes.

Instead, I see a bunch of "Orton-the Impossible Dream" threads around here.

He's been paid handsomely for this situation. He should deliver.

Let's suppose Orton comes in and plays exactly as well as we might expect Romo to play. Do you think we'd be favored in this game?

He should be expected to play well, but the guy doesn't play defense or special teams. There are other factors in wining or losing a game.

Does Orton play defense? Special team? O-Line? WR? Again, no one player can win the game by himself.

Come on man, your post sounds like coming from a teenager.

I think you expect him to play as well an any other backup QB. But he isn't a starter

I do expect him to put his best foot forward. I'm expecting for him to go out and help us win this game. He's getting paid good to do it, so was Romo.

But if anyone uses the same logic with Romo, they hate the Cowboys, and aren't "real" fans.

What about a 100 million dollar guy?

Orton was 30/46 for 358 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs (of which one was not really his fault IMO). If you say that he did not play well then I think you must also say that Romo has not played well this season. This is almost exactly the kind of game that we have seen from Romo many, many times over, right down to the late game INT.

Orton played pretty well today, lets be honest if romo takes over down 24-22 the entire football world would have expected him to thrown an int there.
