Well, I like Barber but I have to say that his propensity to fumble is starting to worry me. I wish he would not put the ball on the turf.

Also, I thought Thompson played when given the chance. I really like that kids ability to stretch the corner. I might like him more then anybody we've got.

Barber seems to be a straight ahead type runner, just lowers his shoulder when he gets to the second level of defenders.

Julius can fake guys out and make the long run.

With the holes that were opened yesterday, I thought Julius would have had some 20+ yard runs.

We miss Julius tremendously...since he went out in the Philly game, we haven't been scoring like we used to.

I have been wondering about this too. We weren't doing much in the running game when he was in but I believe he still commanded a great deal of respect from opposing D's.

Barber could be a starter in this league.

I think his first 5 or 6 carries went for first downs

After the first series, he did very little. Seattle started to play run more. Since it was clear they could get to Bledsoe whenever they wanted. After that, MB was just average. Had JJ been in the game, they would have keyed on the run and maybe the passing game could have done more. MAYBE.

I think he had 95 yds in the game.

Julius has only got 96 so far this year.

The guy played good man, why can't you accept that?

MB3 is a complete back that needs more time to adjust to

the NFL than prolly most. But next year he will pressing jujo

for the starting job.

I keep hearing how JUJO fakes people out and jukes people,

that is BS.. JUJO runs fast and makes one cut and goes fast.

He doesn't have this great vision that people on here seem to think he has

I sorry if it burst your bubble on JUJO, but he is not an elite back...

He may end up being our 3rd down back only.

Lack of vision and durability are his weakness'.

Time will tell who's right...one thing for sure tho most people

on here haven't given JUJO enough time in the league

to give him the kind of praise he gets on this board. He has done

nothing to deserve a pedastal(SP) just my OPINION

Your wrong, Julius' vision is great. He just hasnt had any kind of room this year.
Next year it'll be JJ starting with MB3 lighting the load for him to keep him healthy and keep JJ off the field on 3rd down to avoid blocking.
I also think MB3 might be the best option returning kicks.

NEwman on punts though

Points Per Game without JJ: 12.67
Points Per Game with JJ: 28.4

The Defense accounting for Julius Jones makes the rest of our offense run effeciently. Take JJ out and the opposing defense can start taking defenders out of the box to defend the pass.

The Troy Hambrick effect is in full force right now, the backup RBs are getting good YPC and everyone is saying they're better than the starter.

Most of those dissing JJ have always been against him anyway.
What has MB done that comes EVEN CLOSE to what JJ has accomplished?
MB best game- less then HALF of what JJ did.
Scoring?
How many TD's has MB scored?
I hear nothing but silence.

what the hell has jj done ,nothing even remotely close to

what your level of praise amounts to...MB3 is a complete back

JUJO isn't. MB3 can catch a screen pass JUJO can't...

MB3 is a better blocker than JUJO....JUJO has done squat to deserve

what most on this board perceive as greatness...how many games has he missed

11 in 2 yrs geez people get a grip, JUJO is a decent back who happens to

be regressing this yr, maybe he can pick it up maybe not

Hell JULIUS is not even the best back in his family

I'd take Thomas on my team ahead of lil brother anyday.

He just has had the misfortune of playing for the two worst

teams in recent years.

1. I have not seen JJ drop a screen pass, only flares that were over his head and long passes where he looked ugly going for them.

2. JJ is a very good blocking back. I don't know where you get that Barber is better. Barber did well in the last 2 games that he played, but JJ was steady the whole time. Since last year I can only remember twice where he missed a block, and only because he was late recognizing. Whenever he takes on a blocker, he rarely loses.

3. JJ would have had 150yds yesterday because of his illusiveness. Holes were nice and Barber played well, but he isn't the same threat as JJ.

4. It took Thomas 4 years in the league before he actually was productive. It took JJ 8 games.

Our offense isn't the same without him.

jj never looks at ease catching passes, there is a reason he hasn't caught many....oc figured it out quick

2 JJ is a capable blocker but i wouldn't say better than MB3

3 JJ had 0yds yesterday for a reason...durability issues

4 i already answered that one :banghead:

i like JJ but lets give him time to earn all this HOF praise

He may end up deserving it...but not yet..as of now he has regressed

this year, no excuses just results baby, just results

The worst thing JJ did was get bigger IMO

he should have worked more on learning to catch and less weight-lifting

Hog, you have a much weaker case bleating about MB. WHAT HAS HE DONE?
JJ has done much more. Has MB taken over any games and dominated. NO.
Has he won any games? NO. I am mystified at where you get your evidence praising him.

I'm not praising MB3 ,i just can't see why everybody

acts like JJ has been All-pro. He is a good decent back

even great if you are comparing to Hambrick. but i have higher

standards than that (ES TD) he is nowhere near that status.

I watched MB3 since he was a freshman at Minn. He would have showed

alot more in college had it not been for a phenom named L. Maroney.

But i'm not touting any of our RB as great. I think we will have a

committee approach from here on out....It's much cheaper that way

we won't be paying E Smith dollars anymore to anyone...JMO

The term "praising" makes both points sound a little out of bounds. I too have my reservations about JuJo. He was a wonderful cutback runner last year and had one of the better second half seasons that I can remember.

On the other hand, the JuJo that I saw this year, seems to run straight ahead more than "juke" like some say he is capable of doing. Is it BP? I don't know. In addition, JuJo seems to go down to easy. He also doesn't run with power or not as much as I'd like to see him run with. He bulked up with muscle but I rarely see him break tackles like MB did yesterday.

What some may say they see in MB is power, speed, pass catching ability and enthusiasm for the game. Does this mean that he is better than JuJo? The word "better" is subjective so to bring a little clarity to the thread I will say that there are things that MB seems to have that JuJo doesn't. There are also things that Jujo has that MB doesn't. JuJo has the ability to break a game wide open but our only proof of that is last year. He hasn't looked like the same guy this year.

Some may say it's the 'O' lines fault or the fact that they don't run enough draw plays for Jujo. I can buy either of those reasons but we have to apply the same to the other backs like TT who against the Eagles, almost matched JuJo's yardage and also, MB who almost matched JuJo's season high yesterday.

The output from the running back position has not dropped so dramatically that it made me long for JuJo. I'm sorry but that's just how I feel and probably the reason that many people are not blaming the running backs for our loss yesterday.

Jujo who predicted his yardage to be 2000 yards (jokingly) will be hard pressed to hope to gain 1500 and to also stay healthy.

MB could not even beat out another college back to go full time. He has done nothing to be compared to what JJ has done. He certainly did not eat Seattle up like JJ did last year. Untill he does something to the same degree, JJ has it all over him.

can't wait for JJ to get back. Barber had some nice, tough runs, but I really think JJ would have gashed this D for a lot more. His ability to make the first guy miss would have been apparent, and with the number of draws we ran, no one hits the draw hole faster than JJ. Come back soon sir.

I too cant wait for JJ to get back. Even though MB3 had a nice yardage total, I never felt we could run the ball with consistency. My gut tells me the rushing yards were a product of Seattle not respecting our run offense. Im a huge JJ beliver. There is something very special about him but IM super concerned with the way this season has played out
