As for the topic that actually mattered here, before it was hijacked by a forum troll, I doubt, very seriously, this is anything for the Eagles to get all worried about in June.

He'll get the system down and probably be just fine. He'll certainly cover no worse than Sheppard and Brown did in the first Cowboys/Philly game and he'll probably give them nothing better than what Sheppard and Brown were already providing.

He'll allow them to be 3 deep at CB now, until they finally have to move a very unhappy Sheppard, which you need in this league now anyway.

In the end this will not do anything to solve the Eagles bigger issue and that is being able to throw the ball consistently and threaten defenses. They're still no better off, currently, at the WR position than they were this time last year.

Isn't this a bit similar to all those articles during preseason that usually say that Anthony Henry is struggling in mini-camps. Then someone replies and points out that Henry is a different player with pads on...etc...etc?

That's because Henry isn't very good at one-on-one press man coverage. He's not good at it in practice or in the games. To his and our benefit, he's not required to play it much in games.

Similarly, Samuel's MO is that he's not good at one-on-one press coverage. The difference is that Jim Johnson likes his receivers to play that coverage in games quite a bit.

On a side note, it's interesting that we're not hearing the negative comments about Henry this offseason. In fact, he had 3 INTs just last week in practice. Perhaps he feels the heat behind him and isn't slacking off.

Samuels is a veteran probowler level player. In all fairness, new systems aren't as simple as some of you may believe. But the bottom line is that it's not even training camp and you're selecting players that should be shot or put out to pasture.

Just like how Jevon Kearse and Darren Howard were supposed to get you guys all the championships, eh?

I think Asante will live up to expectations, and Brown will be his backup in the secondary.

You forgot to mention how Lito SKIPPED OTAs last week.

Bottom line-you have to have the PROPER personnel to run your SCHEME.

Sure-Jim Johnson has the best defensive mind in the game-but at the same time, you saw how his D was pretty much in the toilet when he had the likes of Mark Simoneaux, Darwin Walker, Michael Lewis, etc starting.

IOW-in regards to Samuel, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
