Patriots | Samuel looking for 10-year contract
Sat, 23 Feb 2008 12:15:11 -0800

Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel, who will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, is reportedly looking for a 10-year contract worth $100 million. He is also looking for $30 million guaranteed up front.

Is he that good? I say NO

He'll be exposed as just another product of Belicheat's system in time. Dont get me wrong, he's above average, but far from elite. He constantly gets handled by elite receivers in man-on-man coverage. His strength is jumping routes in zone.

Hahaha, good luck to him.

I'm looking to make 25 trillion dollars during my life... Does it mean I'll make it?

Is he worth it? Doesn't matter, he'll get it from someone.

He'll never play it out though. Way backloaded contract....he's just wanting the guaranteed money.

clements was not worth it last year but he still got it.

Outside of TNew, who is too old for that long a contract, and the guy in Oakland, there really is not ANYONE worth that kind of money in any respect.

Didn't T.O. toast him for a TD? Or was it two TD's?

Wow, just imagine what he'd be asking for had he actually caught the potentially game sealing INT that went right through his hands.

Clements didn't get anything but the title of highest paid player. No way in hell he plays out his contract in Frisco. The last two years of his contract are worth like 36 million dollars.

Hes really only looking at a 6 year, 44 million dollar deal, which is a TON of money but nowhere near what that contract looks to be.

Really, if thats what it takes, so be it. If players are just dying for that title of highest paid player, let em have it.

If you have to sign a guy to a 10 year, 100 million dollar contract, cool. Build up his pride and do it as long as 3 years and 40 million will never be seen.

thats why teams are looking to try and trade for guys like hall. samuels may just price himself out of the game.he will never get 100 mil nor 30 mil bonus. he better think about this a bit or he may end up very disappointed

I know! But were those "other guys" getting paid 10 mil a year?

the stuff i hooked him up with was worth all the money he paid me for it i guess... i mean uh... wonder what is making him think like that?...

Cant believe he's asking for so much after letting the game winning INT slip through his hands in the SuperBowl. If he's going to get paid good he has to make that grab.

Jeez sports figures are paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much money to play a game. 100 million dollars give me a break

$100 mil? Fine, just back-load the contract and cut his butt when he starts to slow down.
