When, I watch a football game, I watch the Offensive Line and Defensive front Seven. When the Cowboys play, I go back and rewatch to make sure I see it
the same way the second time.

I was impressed with Asim Richards watching the game live. Then everyone was trashing his performance.

So, I was sure that when I rewatched the game, it would be less impressive than I originally thought.

However, after rewatching the game, I came away even more impressed.

First, he has very quick feet and even when he takes the wrong step his feet let him get back in position. The sack, he was blamed for, I have timed at 4.12 seconds before
contact according to my stop watch. That should be ample time for an NFL QB to get the ball out. Besides Richards pushed the defender past the QB and Grier drifted back into the sack.

Also, keep in mind that Richards has been mostly playing guard in practice until Chuma Edoga got hurt a couple of days before the game and Asim was asked to step in against Travon Walker. He handled Walker easily except for one play and even then he recovered quickly enough to keep him from hitting the QB.

I'm very confident that if he keeps working hard he will be a very capable backup this year and perhaps much more in the future.

I was also impressed with Earl Bostick Jr. in the second half. Even though the competition wasn't to a level of Travon Walker.

I thought Josh Ball, Matt Farniok, Matt Waletzko and Brock Hoffman were all less impressive than either Richards or Bostick.
That's what you say

Richards and/or Bostic upgrading what we had would be welcome news indeed. Richards in particular. We *really* need a G.

Though with the minimal talent I see in that pool, I would have phoned Peters weeks ago.

How do you not use awesome instead of brilliant in the thread title?

I mean, cmon. It's right there.
As I said in the "Sign Zach Martin Now" thread, he stood out to me as well. He held his own. I guess he's a technique guy because he's not that strong. Unless he was hurt at the NFL Combine. He did only 13 reps on the 250-pound bench press. That's by far the lowest I've ever seen from a big man. Parsons did 18, and even that is not that good compared to other linebackers.

I know, right? How did I miss it?

Here we go with the annual “Backup lineman XXXX is a star in the making” and no one will challenge because it’s a position with no spotlight.

Seriously though, he does seem promising. Hopefully works out quickly. There is a long line of back up lineman who took a year or YEARS to finally get it. The jury is still out whether we have that time.

Judging by the end of last season, we don’t have any time. And we had McGovern and Peters on the roster then. Could be scary. Hope our starters stay healthy. It’s never good to fall apart in any position, but this is one that kills everything.

I agree with Bostic, Richards, and Bass. Bostick looks like a Terrence Steele talent. Richards is going to start for someone either this year or next year. Bass is a pure RG so that may limit roster use. But he played well.

Hoffman got blown up so badly on one play that I never want to see him again.

Nah, I know how a g sounds. Not sure Asim is supposed to sound Awesome, though. I know the English language has been butchered but you shouldn't be able to get some out of sim no matter how you bend
It’s the “schwa” sound which any vowel can sound like. It would sound like the i sound in pencil. So the full name sounds like Ah-sum.

Gp ahead and go with that. Just because we've butchered the language doesn't make it right.

I seriously doubt Hoffman will make the team, but you cannot blame the coaches for giving him his shot. That is what preseason is for. Give the young guys a shot, so both you and they know they didn’t have what it takes.

- Bostick grades well this preseason, he could force coaches to go smaller at another unit to keep an extra OL that they really like on the 53 roster , instead of
exposing him to waivers to get him to the practice squad.

- If fact, I'd much rather see Richards continue to get the bulk of reps at LT in these preseason games than Chuma
- if Richards impresses enuff, we may not have
to see Chuma have to fill in

I want this to be true, we desperately need some depth to step up, we have some time still.
