Yeah..the idea that Mma wouldn't help in a fight is ridiculous. Since most fights at some point end up on the ground it is a huge plus. As a former state wrestling champion...I have never been in a fight that didn't make it to the ground and once it did it was over. I have taken my share of *** pickings trying to slug it out.

I know every town has their tough guy scrapers and our town is no different. This one cat was always in fights and rarely if ever got beat. He told me he was in a bar somewhere in the Midwest and got in a scrap with a very high level college wrestler and said it was the only time he never had a chance in a fight...the dude just grabbed him and threw him down and it was over before it started...except my friend wasn't going to give in that easy....tried to go again, and same thing.

I still think for some reason Leary would be a flat out destroyer. I agree McClain too....he seems to have that rangy kind of quality a LOT of good fighters have.

I bounce for part of my living right now, and Ro would be the one I wouldn't want to mess with.

Tyron, thats just a size thing not a fighting thing. As for Murray, only thing MMA does is teaches you how to tap out, MMA doesn't matter much in a real life fight.

A real fight has a whole different mentality than MMA.

disagree completely on MMA.
Boxing translates poorly because a guy will just tackle you if you are quick and running around but MMA is very useful in street fights.
MMA evolved from street fighting and no holds barred stuff.
you have to train for the fight to go anywhere.
scariest part of fighting an MMA guy is they will be around well beyond the initial adrenaline dump.

biggest concern in a bar fight is getting hit in the head with a bottle and avoiding the inevitable mace spray that's coming.

if you could only train one thing to prepare for street fighting krav maga is your best bet imho.
that and basic cardio.

we had a LB/DE at Tech that reminds me of McClain.
he knocked out a 275 pound teammate across a card table.
it was the most unreal thing i've ever seen.
the guy's sister was kinda sweet on me but i never even looked her direction....
