Jeanty has 720 carries and 77 catches at the college level already. That's a lot of hits coming into the league. I would not invest a top 10 pick in a guy with that kind of wear and tear already present.
You wouldn't take a top 5 player at 10?

Not with a limited shelf life due to the hits that he has and will take. Give me an interior lineman on either side of the ball instead.

I don't see Jeanty as a generational type RB, but if the Cowboys really do, then I have no problem with them taking him at 8-12.
If he is just a good back though, get one in the third, and use the 1st round on BPA --preferably the DL.

Then what are you going to do when the other backs start slipping away before you pick in the 2nd round?

The guy I want will be available in the 3rd/4th round range. Taking a running back with a top ten pick is not a sound strategy.

This is the deepest running back class I can remember. We should be able to get a really good one in the third

I'm fundamentally a BPA dude, so it all depends who's on the board. But I wouldn't rule out Jeanty at #10. That pick is right about where the dropoff starts in this class between the real studs and game changers, and the merely good football players.

I am not taking Jeanty over say Mason Graham, or Derrick Harmon, or Will Johnson. But if our pick comes down to Jeanty and Will Campbell (who I think is just kind of a steady-Eddie guard prospect), or Jeanty and flipping a coin on Mykel Williams, I can see a case for Jeanty.

WRT to Jeanty's athleticism, I think he'll actually test extremely close to Bijan. Bijan weighed in at 215, which is the same as Jeanty's roster weight. He ran a 4.46 - Jeanty probably runs somewhere in the 4.4s. Bijan had a 37" vert, which is good but not exceptional. Jeanty could definitely match that. And like Jeanty, Bijan's superpower is contact balance, which can't really be quantified in a Combine drill.

But anyway, if you put all of Bijan's metrics together, it comes out to a really high-octane athlete. Being pretty good at everything leads to him being elite overall.

The case for Jeanty is his dominant numbers and potentially dragging Boise friggin State to the national title game. He had a big day against the Oregon defense also.

He will be a very good pro.

The case against is the Cowboys need to get their defense into the top 10 in the NFL.

I would probably trade down and take my DT at 17 to 20 while picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd.

Lots of holes to fill.

I'm hearing we could see a 3rd QB ( Milrose or Ewers ) make it to the top 10. The Giants, Raiders, Jets and possibly the Saints have to come out of the draft with a QB.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if a team falls in love with Milroe…only takes 1.

Also Drew Allar might be one of the most underrated QBs in the draft IMO. I could see him sneaking into the bottom of the 1st.

He’s a stud for sure…but the more RBs I watch the more I’m like yep he can play in the NFL. I’m higher in Rico than most but I also think he’s earned a short term deal. I’d love to have someone like him where at least I know what I’m getting if we choose a more valuable position in the 1st and snag a RB later.

I’m much more inclined to take a WR or defender in the 1st…especially considering we just lost our up and coming start LBr to a bad injury.

An honestly, he's acting like Jeanty is a sure fire Top 5 player. I am not so sure that's accurate.

Funny, I think Allar is overrated. He's too inconsistent for my liking. Was woeful against OSU and he made some critical errors in the UO game.

I agree, when you are picking in the top 10, you take the best player available.
According to Stephen Jones.....you wanna think any player inside 10 will be with you for 10 years. This means they would not draft Jeanty or trade down if they don't like what's at 8-10.

I wouldn't pay any attention to what he says.

They did draft Zeke
That's just it........I think he's admitting Zeke was an extreme exception to the rule. In other words, I don't see them drafting Jeanty inside 10. Perhaps a trade down into the teens but not inside 10.

I am out on Jeanty.

He's great but I don't see a superstar type like a Gibbs or Robinson.

I'd rather use that high pick on DL help and then come back in the 2nd or 3rd round with a TB, like either of the OSU TBs, for example.
My thing with Jeanty is he will have over 800 touches in 3 years
