Then some team is going to waste a high 1st rounder on Sammy Watkins. And that team will be very happy.:)

And that team has a need at WR. We have a need at many positions DT, DT, DE, DE, WSL, FS, SS, RT,RG,LG. that have no decent starter and lack of depth. Asf for Evens...he looks like a bigtime prospect.

I'm sure they will be very happy, they'll sell jerseys and possibly put a guy in the pro bowl. The fans will have a guy to cheer for as their team continues to lose games.

What's it going to be then, eh?

People keep talking about trading back. That might not be an option.

Maybe but i dont think the cowboys would pick and would take the trade. This draft is really deep and Dallas could pile up picks and really set themselves up with quality depth and a few starters.

The problem with this, is we always get the wrong end of the stick when we trade back. As well as when we trade up.

In that scenario, I think we go Zach Martin.

Let's just not go Bobby Carpenter with our first pick..

..or Roy Williams.

We need 3-5 starters out of this draft.

Plus I'd like to see us draft a fast special team guy just for punt and kickoff returns for a change.

And I would be fine with either of those picks also. OL is always a good pick. I also like the fact Martin is versatile OL guy.

Me too, but i would rather have Lewan. With todays NFL its a great thing to have that RT with that

The best Option for a trade back IMO is for Martin to drop. But then i think it would take a very sweet deal for Dallas to not take him.

Oh, have you heard my premise? I wasn't aware we had talked about this before.

Also, to be clear, I didn't say a WR is a waste of a pick. I said taking one early, at 16 IS early for a WR, is a waste of a pick - particularly if you already have a skilled receiver on the roster.

Drafting a WR at 16 when you already have Dez Bryant and a serviceable #2 on the roster is Millen-esque, unless your goal is simply to sell more merch.

If Evans is the pick I guarantee it won't be a wasted pick . Is he the 1st choice ? No but most believe in BPA right ? We don't really need a guard bernadeau and Leary actually dominated the 2nd half last year .

By the way brian broad on the fan just said Donald or Evans and Martin are the cowboys 3 targets @16 .

You guys may be projecting Donald too early, imo.

This 1st round is loaded. One or two of these DTs (Nix, Hageman, Donald, Jernigan, Tuitt ) is going to fall all the way into the mid 2nd rd. This is especially possible becasue guys like Easely, Quarles and others can be had much later.

If we don't take Donald at 16, he could fall a long way.

I realize that he would be a great fit, but we may end up--with a couple of trades--being able to get two good ones early...say Pryor and Donald.
I like Sutton too

In order to trade back, you have to have a trade partner that wants to move up. Every GM in the league knows how deep this draft is. You may have 32 teams with a trade down strategy.

It takes two to tango.

exactly. In a deep draft trade down partners are going to be hard to find

That's why you trade up instead. If everyone wants to trade back, you can choose from multiple offers. Dallas is going to have around 11-12 picks, why not package some and get quality over quantity.

Depends on what position you're interested in, or if you have a specific player that you like.
I think deep drafts have plenty of trading, but some teams move both up and down in the same draft.

Last year, the first round was slim and so after about 10-12 picks, the interest to trade up dried up to some degeree. Even then, there where still trades, but the teams moving up had the advantage.

I don't think BPA exists as an actual draft philosophy, personally. I think it's something nice to say, but that's about it. Who WOULDN'T want to just systematically go down their board and pick the highest rated guy that was left?

The line played better than they have in years, but Leary and Bernie weren't dominant. It's also not just about this year, but thinking a few steps ahead.

Last year the team wanted to take Cordarrelle Patterson too, so I'm not surprised they'd be infatuated with another WR. This is the same team that keeps throwing 2nd round picks at TE, so I don't take their interest as necessarily meaning they are right.

WR's are great for stat watchers and they are exciting to watch make plays, but their overall impact is way overvalued. RB's have started to normalize in that respect, you don't see a lot of them going in the 1st like they used to.
