At this point in Dak's career, is he really ready for another change?

I would completely disagree. Yes you want both to be up to par, no doubt about that, but I'd much rather take my chances with really good players in a horrible scheme rather than terrible players in a great scheme. Bad players give you zero chance if they can't win 1v1 matchups.

Miami averaged about 12 points per game without Tua this year. 26 with him. Its really hard to just plug and play lesser talent into any scheme.

Kellen Moore had top offenses in Dallas. He goes to LA and is horrible. Goes to a loaded Philly offense and is top 5 in the league again.

Coaching matters don't get me wrong, but I think we give way too much credit and blame to these coordinators when 90% of the time if they have quality players they'll produce for you and when they dont they wont.
We have had pretty decent players here for quite some time. Can't seem to accomplish anything of real value i.e. playoff games. Players? or scheme?

We have had decent players, but when is the last time Jerry & Stephen actually went out and looked to improve the team and fill the massive black holes? We've continued to have offseasons highlighted by top acquisitions such as James Washington and Erik Kendricks while we let superior talent walk out the door year after year then wonder why we struggle to beat higher end teams late in the season? 2022 was probably the one year I felt like they should be able to make a run, but we still relied on a post injury Gallup, an over the hill Anthony Barr, and Quinten Bohanna to start the season.

I think this team was fortunate enough to have enough high end talent on the roster to carry Jerry's neglect at LB/DT/RB/WR the last few years to win 12 games 3 years in a row. Come playoff time teams are good enough to exploit those areas of neglect.

Matthew Stafford managed to have some success changing teams late in his career.

Besides, this isn't about Dak, it is about who/what gives Dallas the best chance of winning.

He's been used to doing things a certain way with MM being here, if/when a new coach comes here, he will ask Dak to try new things that Dak may not be comfortable with. You hear Dak come out in defense for MM, that to me could just be a cry for help to keep things the way they are. Please give your thoughts
Jerry likely ”encouraged” Dak to say something supportive about McCarthy. Jerry must be aware he’s not going to be able to attract anyone better. Jerry and Dak working in tandem to prepare the fanbase.

I'm curious...not a challenge...but what superior talent did we let walk out the door?

And...these playoff teams that exploit our areas of neglect...do THEY have superior talent along with excellent scheme to compliment both their own team and us?

Just trying to put this all together...not sure there is any magic formula. I stand by my original statement...GOOD talent and GOOD scheme to not only compliment that talent but attack the other team..like you say they do to us.

Throw is some good luck to boot.

The easy example is this past offseason. We traded Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz for Guyton/Beebe. Both Guyton & Beebe may end up all pro players before its all said and done but they had no chance of being better in 2024 than the guys we let walk aside from injuries becoming a factor. So not only did we downgrade the OL, but we also used two of our first three draft picks to do so neglecting other holes on the roster. This is a perfect example of how the Cowboys draft reliance has slowly bled talent from the roster. Not that hes a true difference maker but I'd say that Johnathan Hankins is superior to Mazi Smith. Moving Amari Cooper and getting James Washington off the bargain bin. Dorrance Armstrong and Dante Fowler have combined to be in on 13 sacks this year. I would have loved to have had one of those guys on the depth chart this season and Fowler only cost $3M.

As far as do the playoff teams we go up against have superior talent I would say absolutely. The 49ers beat us 2 of the last three trips and they have probably the deepest roster of anyone in the league the last few years. They cycle through DCs every couple years without much fall off. Kyle Shannahan has been the ultimate scheme guy up until this year until his offense hasn't been very good as they simply can't keep guys healthy. Even going back to his Atlanta days their offense wasnt very good year 1. Year 2 they sign a top C in Alex Mack to solidify the OL in addition to a few smaller additions and all of a sudden they are one of the best in the league. Brady had three different OCs and went to superbowls under all of them. None of those OCs did much after leaving New England.

Scheme does matter, but not nearly as much as talent does in my mind. Talent has carried a lot of bad coaches to decent records. I would agree with you that typically the teams playing in the super bowl have a good combination of both, but teams that focus too much scheme end up drafting Taco Charlton over TJ Watt too. Good players who can beat the guys lined up over them can play in any scheme.
