Seeing that the offensive coaches won't be at the combine too long due to working on the new offense. When does Dak get a hold of the playbook to develop comfortability with the guys he'll be throwing to in 2023??

Here you go Dak as Howie got you covered!!!! :muttley:

Mike didn’t take over play calling because he has the answer for Dak.
In his own words from the Combine, he took over play calling due to philosophical differences with Moore. He said Moore wants to blow up the scoreboard with a ton of points. Mike wants to “run the damn Ball.” He said he doesn’t care about being the number one offense. He wants to be the number one team and win championships by resting his defense, controlling the clock, playing complimentary football.

Having the number 1 offense is not necessarily what’s best for the team.

Above are Mike’s own words. Now for my opinion. - I think the changes to the run game will be the blocking schemes. I think the changes to the passing game will be better, tighter pockets and protection and more routes where pass plays are considered like run plays to get guys the ball in space and spread out the defense, while keeping the big play aspects that keep a defense honest. I think Mike will lean on the defense when it’s playing well, eat up clock, and be happy with 24 points when the other team has only 10-14. When the defense struggles, he will unleash the offense as needed.

Whether his strategy works or not, it’s clear that he has convinced Jerry and Stephen that controlling the whole team picture to win games is more important than having the number one offense in points or yards when it comes to winning a title with this team. We shall see.

At the end of each season players get things to work on from coaches, trainers etc. Plus they have their personal trainers they go to and work on their game. Hopefully Dak is getting with his receivers and working on what they can before camp. I know if i'm a guy like tolbert or semi i'd be begging to workout with my qb so I can get on the same page as him asap then let that carry over to camp then pre-season then regular season. But that's just me.

When is Dak going to also get better? He's been promising just that for 2 seasons and we're still waiting. All we keep hearing from the Dak homies is that everything else around Dak needs to be better, but Dak also needs to improve.

the number 1 thing with Dak is basically what Josh Allen stated. I’m paraphrasing but there is a thin line between being aggressive and being dumb, Dak crosses this line a few times each game

Sorry (sarcasm), Dak is the greatest QB ever, we will probably resign him especially after he has a career year throwing for 7043 yards, 87 touchdowns, and 1 int, we will sign him to a massive deal, only for the first season into his deal he'll go back to throwing it to the other team

For a guy who has been in the league 7 years , some of Dak’s tendencies are baffling. Still not getting the mechanics handled , staring down the WRs, throwing late and behind at times . Of course pressure causes some of this , but he is fortunate to have good to very good OLs protecting him.

I'm hoping the shorter, quicker passes is an aid to Dak's success once he gets familiar with McCarthy's system.

That'd be good to see. I would imagine we'll just have to wait and see how he's able to implement the changes.

So basically the first half or more of next season will be a disaster as everybody continues to learn the "new" playbook. Sounds positive already, lol
Not really
There aren’t a lot of things you can really change
I think the biggest changes will be in pllaycalling more than scheme changes and route changes
Most route changes aren’t massive changes but more what each guy does on a particular play but routes in themselves are kinda similar everywhere. How you combine those routes is where I see chsnge

Kellen Moore was probably laughing reading this post.

Remember when they were all about “this is no longer Zeke’s team, but Dak’s”?

I can guarantee you 1 thing, which is 2016 isn’t happening again because defenses figured out you just needed to sit on the out-routes of Beasley. And let’s be honest here, Dak played like crap against the 2 good defenses that year anyways, the Vikings and Giants.

2017 was 2016, but defenses knew what to expect.

Blocking schemes?

You do know the OL coach they just let go, Joe Philbin, was pretty much MMS right hand man, who had no real affiliation to Moore.

If this was really about Moore, why is Philbin gone?

And what track record of Mike shows he actually likes to run the ball?

Just the newest edition of “NFL offense for dummies” should do the trick……or just the CliffsNotes version

All I know is that McCarthy said they were spending time changing the run schemes and shoring up the blocking. He and Shottenheimer are changing the scheme for the run game, and he said he wants a tighter pocket in pass protection.

If Philbin was Mike’s right hand guy, why is he gone? All these coaching changes were Mike’s call, not Jerry’s.

Don't worry about Dak....he will work hard, be in the best shape of his life, will eliminate his mistakes, look at loads of film and promise to have this team in the SB like he said. Aww heck, won't make no dammmmm difference.

oh and don't forget, he will be even richer with his restructured contract. More years in purgatory awaits us.

He’s been working with his receivers every offseason. At least with the ones who decided to show up.
