Just throwing it out there.

He plays a premium position at a high level and you aren't rolling the dice hoping to draft Tyron's eventual replacement .

He has a large contract.
With Dak's salary can we afford him?
He is also gonna cost a premium draft pick.

His salary next year is 18 mil
To add to this they only are going to have him under contract for next year and then he's going to want 25 million a year

That's why I think Houston would legitimately offload him if the offer is good enough . By the time you have to pay him again (2024) he's going to have 105+ games played in the NFL and want 25 million a year

Tunsil isnt on their radar for a long-term option, too much money and too much wear n tear.

If the haul is good enough they would definitely get rid of him now (more picks now during the rebuild, 19 million saved next 2 years, and you don't have to pay him 25 million a year when he's past his prime)

If anything it would be a move someone like Bill Belichick would and has done in the past

It’s a logical move, especially if they could add another high pick
They are loaded with enough picks and have a fortune in cap space coming
They have the ammo to build a really good, young roster really fast
Exactly a bill b move

The only time Jethro makes a big trade is if its his idea. Since others have mentioned this it will not happen.

0 price as we've pampered the offense enough and they have done nothing but lay playoff eggs for the last 6 seasons!
We have a LT in fact we just drafted him with our # 1 pick!

isn't this the guy who was getting high with a gas mask on , right before the draft?

Reading his bios, it doesn't seem that the cowboys would have enough to offer. And why would the Texans help the cowboys out?

Dude. If you're going to not consider a player because of that, you really are the one with the problem.

Grow up.

I never said not to consider him, just trying to remember the player...so you grow up!

I mentioned all of the following in a different thread but will add it to this. Team that gets him only has to pay 2 years 19 million while Houston not only loses there LT but has to eat around 34 million in dead money

It would be a significant trade haul. Tunsil has a decent amount of penalties but is still a fringe top 10 LT in the league.

I would imagine a 2nd and a 4th would be the absolute minimum for talks to even begin and something higher like a 1st and comp 3rd or 2nd and 3rd would be realistic for a team like us whose bad at negotiating and really desperate

Houston is in a rebuild, owes a 34 million dollar cap hit in 2023 on him (can save 18.5 by getting him off the books) and only has the rights to him for this year and next so he is a realistic trade target if the compensation is good enough

If you’re trading for Tunsil, what is Tyron staying for? To become an expensive RT? Maybe Texans will take a flyer on him, save you some of the draft assets

Can we keep in mind that he has never played a full 16-game season and played in only 5 last year due to a 4-6 week injury holding him out for the rest of the year.

While semantically true, he’s played 14 or more games every year before last, was on a pro bowl streak before the 2021 injury, and is still only 28
