I was thinking the exact same thing. I believe the Jimmy deal was about Glanville if I can recall correctly. They weren't too fond of one another.

I don't think anyone was fond of Glanville, he was a dbag, even when he was an "analyst".

watched it.. i forgot what an awesome job Beuerlein did stepping in for Aikman
He wasnt awesome in that game. He was overthrowing on half his passes and made some terrible INTs.

I remember Tony Casillas wasn't fond of him when Dallas traded for him from Atlanta. That was his main reason for his departure from there.

In example of his intelligence was the fact that they drafted Favre in the 2nd round and Glanville said there was no way he would play him.

I watched this game one day in the summer.

If our team played that exact game sunday, the fans on this message board would go nuts and whine about everything.

In the fourth qtr, atlanta missed a field goal. We had the lead 31-27.

Irvin fumbled the ball backed to atlanta and we stopped them.

then emmitt fumbled the ball back to them.

With no timeouts they went right up the field and we stopped them on the final play.

During the final drive, jimmy took his headset off and was doing nothing but walking up and down the sideline! After the game was over he didnt shake glanville's hand and just waved and ran back to the tunnell.

The people on this site would bananas if that same scenario played out sunday. Can you imagine wade taking his headset off on the final drive of the game!!!!! JJT would have a heart attack.

i was thinking the same

I PVRed it and am watching it now. Almost all the points happened in the first quarter.

I could see this board if it existed at the time ripping every defensive player, ripping Beurlein etc

Are we winning? My wife has Saturday Night Fever on:bang2:

Third-and-goal from the 2. We've got Emmitt Smith in the backfield, Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper out wide and Jay Novacek going in motion to the slot, and we throw an incomplete pass to ... Alfredo Roberts?

I'm sure that would have gone over well.

That's sounds like something Norv has done lately...

FIRE NORV!

Shoulda retained David Shula, I tell ya.

This is why I love old games because you find out things you never knew. Like finding out that Jack Del Rio played for the Cowboys.

no doubt.

People would have lost their mind watching issac holt and some others on that defense from that year.

Weren't you a fan since 1988?

I watched too and have to agree that the annoucers were about the game and that was it. I don't know if anyone noticed but the color guy hardly even talked and at the begining I thought Stockton was solo. I don't know but I got the feel it was laid back compard to today. Today's announcers try to either hammer a player for self promoting or talk themselves up for personal gain. Jaws for example, how many times do we have to hear you say how much film/game tape you watch? Or, Mike Trico trying to be Al Micheals when he stinks as an annoucer. Besides Tony Dungy all studio hosts just lay into the players Keyshawn, CCarter, Rodney Harrison, Shannon Sharpe, Dilfer, Hasselback etc. I call it the ex-player anger/arrogant era.

You are right Play but my thought was more that the production looked really mickey mouse compared to today. Merlin Olsen was a great colour guy though, he teamed with Dick Enberg for years but for reason he was demoted and Bob Trumpy was pimped up by NBC and then Olsen moved to CBS. It was kind of like what happenend to Tom Brookshier after John Madden became more of a star and took over Tom's former spot next to Pat Summerall.

That's the kind of coach we need today. I'm not saying bring back Jimmy. But we need a coach that demands the best out of everyone all the time.

Didn't hurt that the reserves were just as good as the starters at most positions.

That's the truth.

No they wouldn't. You know why? Because it would mean we actually had a defense that could make stops when it counted most, unlike our 2 losses this season and the last regulation drive in KC.

You got you're thong on too tight??

Watch the game. He was overthrowing pass after pass in the 1st half and forcing some passes that resulted in INTs.
