No one performs at a high level for ever.
Time is undefeatable.

Fair enough. But 1 for his last 5 is still bad for his standards.Missed and blocked are not the same thing.
How quickly some forget that this dude used to be damn near automatic from those distances. So, remove the two blocked kicks which aren’t necessarily his fault and he’s made 5 of his last 10 kicks from 57+ yards. Further, when you look at the 5 misses (non-blocked), they were from an average distance of 61.4 yards.
Gimme a break.

Maybe the long-ball magic is gone and we need to stop trotting him out there regularly for moonshot FG attempts?
He did hit 4 of his previous 5 from that distance (since last Sept.) so hopefully it's just a slump he can work his way out of.
Killer 6-point swing at the end of the half in Houston thanks to the confidence we had in Aubrey.

5-10 is normal by his standards now?
61.4 is too far by his standards now?

aubrey was inhuman for a whileThis staff got too obsessed with Aubrey. I've seen too often once we are in his range, heck which is just past the 50, they get ultra conservative, thinking they have 3 in their back pocket.
And the shine seems to be wearing off on Aubrey. What set him apart, was the consistency to hit the very long kicks. If that goes away, nothing sets him apart anymore.

Once the Texans used their timeouts to preserve the clock and we didn't get close enough for a field goal where the miss wouldn't have put them in our territory, it was time to punt and regroup.I think the bigger problem is our head coach not understanding situational football.
The decision to attempt a near 60 yarder at the end of the first half vs the texans is a good example. That blocked fg turned into a six point swing.
If it had been with just a few seconds left, no problem, but with that miss, there was still time for Hou to turn it into an opportunity of its own. That was a decision not seeming to understand the situation.
Despite a few of his dirty kicks going out of bounds or not making the landing zone, the average return for kickoff against us is the lowest in the league. Those kicks are a big part of it because you have to wait for the bounce and they are hard to field on the bounce, giving the coverage team more time to get through blocks and make a stop.I'm more concerned on his kickoffs than his long FGs
just because you have a weapon such as this, doesn't mean it's always smart or right to attempt such a FGschotty needs to stop with the ridiculous long attempts when in a battle of field position- it’s bad coaching

I wouldn't expect us to stop using them until teams show they can counter their effectiveness when he hits them right (which he mostly does).
It definitely is a risk, so it is up to the head coach to figure out when to try them. After the Texans used their timeouts to preserve the clock, No-Schott should have punted. They countered what we were trying to do and we tried and failed anyway. Hopefully, that failure will make us more calculative on when to take those risks.Honestly, I'm just not concerned about him at all. Trying a 60 yard+ kick will always be a risk. In a dome or not
I can't blame him for blocks from that range either, unless he just took too long-which hasn't been the case.
We got so used to him being automatic, but he is going to miss some and while his leg is strong enough to probably make a 70 yarder, it's a long *** distance and there's variables that get magnified in those ranges. Holder and snapper have to be damn near perfect along with the kicker.
Welcome to the point!because no one can stay that good for long
only fools think so
shotty has still no sense of game management which is surprising because his father was one of the best coaches at that. you would have to think he would have learned a few things from his father.I think the bigger problem is our head coach not understanding situational football.

Unless you are expecting him to passblock for his own FGs, I dont know how you place any blame on him for the 2 blocks this year. The blocks are an issue. Several kickers have never had one blocked, Aubrey has had 5 in just over 3 years. Either he has an issue, or every coach involved in ST needs to go.
He’s far from “Automatic Aubrey”. Just another case of our awful front office paying top $ to a player who isn’t top of his position.
