It's ironic. Kicker's contracts are the closest examples of true merit-based compensation agreements in professional football. Talking about players at every position throughout the history of the sport.
There have been extremely few average-to-excellent kickers, who have landed blockbuster deals. Or even 'huge' deals. And that tiny minority's hold on big dollars is very often short lived.
(Not a jinx/fingers crossed) Brandon Aubrey is a bonafide exception at the position. If anyone could and should capitalize on their undeniable talent level, it would be him.
