Audio: Ben & Skin: Drew Pearson on Leadership & Romo's Hat

I'm sure you are aware that the NBA did set standards for interviews. What exactly they are I'm not sure, but I know they did.

And in terms of the 40-50 crowd, I would simply remember that most of those people have a lot more experience than a 23 year old and still offer a little wisdom :) At least they should. I have 3 sons. They are all under 26. They are all very successful, and I've taught them to conduct themselves in a way that demonstrates some class and dignity. I'm not saying Tony doesn't do that. Nor am I saying that a backwards hat is a sin. I'm simply saying, present yourself in a way that reflects your position. That shouldn't be a generational thing, it should be something that we all learn.

When I said 40-50 crowd, all I meant by it was times have changed and I am pretty sure the under 40 crowd don't give a rip how a player conducts himself when it comes to little stuff like that as long as he isn't a loose cannon off the field or is a disruption in the locker room.. We just want our players to play their tail off, that's all we ask... I know you provide more wisdom, but in the matter of how a guy presents himself to the media or fans by the way he wears his hat, your wisdom over me is pretty irrelevant

I can never tell whether I'm just not smart enough to see that people are joking about the hat thing.

You guys are joking about it, right?

Sadly, some people's lives are so pathetic they actually care what direction someone wear's their hat.

I'm not claiming my view of "the hat" is wiser. I'm simply saying, younger people shouldn't be so quick to think that new is better. There are MANY aspects of our society that were better in the past than they are right now. That has NOTHING to do with a hat. On that you and I can completely agree. But listening and pondering other people's views is not a bad thing.

Was that a press conference?

nope, it was on the biggest stage of the NFL though, I think it's called the "SUPER BOWL"???.... lol, a silly little press conference compared to a game that millions and millions & millions watch... great comparison there bud... Press conferences are used for sound bites anyways right??????? Why does it matter???

Wow. That completely changes my view of it :) Everyone knows that Tom Brady is a quality person. :) Ask all his single mom kids. :)

I don't have much respect for Brady as a man. He's been a good football player, I'll give you that.

Seriously... EVERY player wears it backwards. Every single one of them wears it backwards at least some of the time. They are football players not lawyers or doctors.

What's wrong with having kids if he can afford to support them?

Hehe. Yep, my life is pathetic :) I would gladly compare lives. :) Do you think Drew is living a pathetic life?

Thus my point about "new" not being automatically better.

yup running around from model to model knocking them up out of wedlock, plus you can't forget he wears his hat backwards = high character :)

Who is Drew?

Drew Pearson.... all of this thread was about an interview he gave. Gave props to Romo (as do I), he simply said he wished Tony didn't wear his hat backwards at press conferences. He didn't think it had anything to do with performance (nor do I), or being a leader on the field (nor do I), just felt it would be more becoming of the Cowboys QB to present himself a little different. (so do I).

Should have worded it better. Just making sure we're talking about Pearson and not switch to Brees or some other player and how they wear their hat, or what pants their wearing or what color their undies are. :laugh2:

I don't particularly like the backwards hat... but I do wear it at times... especially playing basketball or throwing the football with the kids...

Is this crap what we are now associating with players now? Is this what it has come to?

I'm sure the older couple a couple of years back that Romo changed the tire for after a game particularly cared which way his hat faced... it is no mark of character...
