That may already being done but if not then someone needs to stay on it. I do have this feeling that the players were given too much latitude and I'm thinking some may have slacked off. Again don't know but I think they all bear more due diligence and supervision. Too much at stake for this window opportunity to screw it up overlooking things. Add some freakin tackling drills. The one on one fight starting kind.
I agree. I was concerned about the team's conditioning all season long and I do think players were given too much latitude. They took advantage of it. The tackling at the end of the season was enough evidence by itself.
However, the positive is that both Wade and Jerry feel the same way you and I do. They want to toughen up, and that has been sorely needed. Just the fact that they WANT to get tough is a vast improvement over previous seasons. I for one am thrilled to hear the guys at the top of the franchise say they need to take everyone to the woodshed and make things tougher on the players. That is exactly what the team needs.
What I question is why some fans say it isn't going to work. It may or may not, but if it doesn't, it will more likely be that the coaches (and owner) didn't follow through with getting tougher... not that the players didn't buy into the stricter team environment. Heck, they have no choice.
This Cowboys team coupled with stiffer discipline should easily be better than they were last year... and that would mean playoffs. The added emphasis on practice and execution added to a team that already flirted with getting on a serious roll at the end of last season could very well be enough to do what we had hoped to do last year.
