Galloway on KTBB.com
------------------------------

Talks about Romo getting the big money and maybe it being a mistake.

He also makes a good point about smart business men not always being the smartest men when it comes to running a sports franchise.

And of course he talks about Jerry getting pressure about making a decision on Terrell Owens.

Oh, definitely. We should have let Romo go. We'd be much closer to a championship without him.

They don't get much dumber than this guy.

no, all you have to do is bring in a good backup QB, so romo knows there is no more room for him to play around, goof off sometimes and not take things serously

just like when jimmy johnson drafted troy aikman, then he went out and got steve walsh in supplemental draft, that helped push aikman,

then, jimmy went and got steve buerelein, from the raiders, not sure how to spell his name right, but buerelein helped mentor aikman some,

competition is good, makes you realize if you mess up there is someone to take your place, thats exactly what romo needs

Galloway actually knows less than 90% of this board when it comes to the Cowboys and he makes Bayless look like a Cowboy groupie.

just like nate newton said tonight, the girlfriend stuff has to to, if you want to be the best, thats what romo doesnt realize

look at it this way, romo is still goofing off, by not settling down, and playing the field, you cant do that as the leader of the team, you have to sacrifice like nate said troy did, when football season starts, its football season, not jessica simpson

sorry typo, the girlfriend stuff has to go when football season starts,

look at it this way, what do you want, to party, go celebrate, and go around showing off with your girlfriend, or like when tony went to mexico the day before the big playoff game against the giants,

that says it right there, football wasnt first with romo, and still isnt to a large degree, he wants to play around with other stuff, till he grows up and become the leader of this team, and that takes sacrifice, hard work, practice, lots of film study, and listening to your offensive coordinator and QB coach, then romo wont improve,

You didn't even listen to the audio?

It wasn't about letting Romo go. It was about the contract being too big too soon.

Way to not listen to the audio, but then choosing to comment on it.

Why not just skip posting about it if you didn't want to listen to it?

Oh, I listened to it. And I listened to it before I posted. He said there should be questions as to whether or not they should have signed Romo to a big contract. Well, it's not like we were going to be able to sign him to a tiny contract. It was either give him a market contract or let him test free agency.

This is just beyond dumb.

Does everybody forget that Romo was fixing to become an UFA???

We didnt have a choice to pay him a little now and then maybe a litte more later and then finally the big payday after he wins some playoff games.

The NFL does not work like that. We had to pay Romo "market value" or risk losing him in free agency. And if you guys dont think somebody would have thrown $67 million at Romo on the open market, then thats just being silly.

Freaking Javon Walker got $50 mill from the Raiders, so yall dont think Romo could get $67 million.......please.

We had to pay Romo his money or lose him to another team. There was no "lets pay a little now and then a little more later". This is really not that difficult a concept to understand, I am surprised Galloway cant figure it out.

You're selling Galloway short. He's right. We should sign all our stars to small contracts. That way, if they play poorly, we're not exposed. It's pretty simple. Between this insight from Galloway, and JJTool's point that we just need another Michael Irvin, I think we've pretty much got this team turned around and headed back in the right direction.

When we do get another Michael Irvin, though, I think we should make sure we only give him a small contract. Just in case.

Hard work has never been a problem for Romo IMO. He was an UFA. You don't become Cowboys QB without hard work. Romo seems to have kept a much lower profile since Mexico. I haven't seen that many interviews with DeIon. My only knock on Romo is that he doesn't always look after the ball. But that's obvious.
