Appolo is to Roy like Bach is to Jerruh. Neither one will ever have a good thing to say about their pet hates.
Frankly the weakness of this years draft makes last years trade look even better. Not to mention the historical 40%+ TOTAL BUST RATE for first rd WRs. And I mean total busts- not even the 20-30% that had at best average careers.

Not sure why it's so hard for fans to let R Williams play this season and then come to a more informed decision on his positives/negatives as a Dallas Cowboy.
It's simple. His skills as a wide receiver are being predetermined by a) his association with the Lions b) his underachieving 1/2 season with Dallas and c) Terrell Owens separation anxiety. That's it in a nutshell. There's nothing more.

But he was a 1st round WR, wouldn't that make him fall into that category? :laugh2:

He's proven that he can rack up meaningless stats in garbage time for a team that threw the ball 70% of the time.

The minute the lights of the big stage got on him, what happened?

His time in Detroit was a hell. Think of Randy Moss in Oakland. He actually quit. Roy actually played and caught the ball.

Hanging Roy based on his time in Detroit is unreasonable.

To add: We only need Roy to do his part. Witten does his part. Barber and Felix and everything else falls into place.

Bold--> Yep. It's just that simple.

And of the 3 I think the only valid worry is C.

Aikman said the Cowboys had the benefit of doing their due diligence before making the trade, so if it doesn’t work it will have been a huge mistake.

However, Aikman said he believes Williams is capable of doing the job.

"There’s no doubt that I think he can be," Aikman said. "He’s an extremely talented player and I hope he becomes the player. There’s a reason why he was drafted where he was by the Detroit Lions and there’s a reason why the Cowboys stepped up and made the trade. There are a lot of people who have looked at his abilities, his talents, what he’s capable of doing, and now it’s just a matter of putting it all together."

Witten was a great TE before Owens got here, but Owens drew a lot of attention and bracket coverage - thus making Romo and Witten's life much easier between the hashes.

I don't know if Roy can draw that attention, hell he couldn't even get past our opponents 2nd best CBs last year, what makes ya'll think he's going to do good against premier DBs?

Miles Austin will be our most explosive WR next year, I look forward to Roy moving the chains and doing his stupid first down dance a lot, nothing more nothing less.

...but only if one believes that Roy Williams' productivity must equal or exceed that of Terrell Owens'. It doesn't. A very good or great offense remains the sum of all its parts. Roy Williams only has be a good part, not a Hall of Fame part, to make this offense one of the league's best. If he plays at or near Terrell Owens' level, it's all gravy.

Agreed. But I should elaborate. I feel that Roy can do THAT AND be a playmaker at times. I want that and EXPECT that.

True. But now we need to execute and gameplan better. That could happen and could remedy that.

I think that as Roy plays and starts making one handed catches and get a few jump balls then THAT will change. He will draw a good amount of attention.

I think Roy and Witten could compliment each other very well. Maybe better than TO and Witten. I hope.

Not gonna happen. They were statistically one of the best WR/TE combos in league history.

Too bad Owens couldn't understand his role and shut up, he hung himself.

Probably won't happen. But only a blind hater would say IT CANNOT happen.

Well "supposedly" we're supposed to spread the ball around and run it more this season.

But we'll see how that goes.

I was extremely disapointed with the way our receivers as a group were used last year.

Even TO wasn't being put in the best position for success.

If Jason thinks he is going to run Roy downfield 20 yards on every route like he did with Owens than we're in trouble.

I like what RW11 brings to the team, but I won't annoint him as a #1 WR....yet. He has to earn that title with the Cowboys. It's not automatic for me.

I dont know that we need to take that approach with Roy.

I think you just send him out there as #1 and tell him "do your job" or "do what you do"

I dont know that he has to earn it.

The only way he won't be the #1 is if Romo and Austin have really good chemistry (alas Bledsoe to Glenn) and/or Austin just becomes a beast and is just simply better than Roy Williams.

Roy is just to talented though to not be a bigtime player for us this year.

Irvin would have trouble playing in this era with ESPN and their sensational rumor coverage. They'd be all over him just like they are Romo and TO.

the only difference is he would have been caught sooner.

He could play in any era, he didnt care what people thought. And people talked trash back then too, didnt mean anything though because no one could handle the guy on the football field.

but yea, in this era, he most likely would have been suspended for something before the superbowl years.

I suspect Irvin thinks from all he knows about RW that RW simply isn't a hard worker, a grinder and he knows you can't succeed long term in the NFL if you aren't a hard worker.

That's why I think Irvin is "worried" about RW.

He isn't.

We paid the 20th best WR in the league (thats being generous), the richest WR contract in football. We gave up a 1st, 3rd, and 6th round pick for him. How nice would our draft had looked with those picks back?

Roy making excuses and wondering why he's the victim just bolsters my opinion that he's pretty dense.

Look, I'm sorry you are all butt hurt over Roy Williams, but it would be really keen if you could temper your frustration and **** until this season starts.

Surely you are not so butt hurt that you can't acknowledge the situation he came into last year and the fact that he is likely to fit in much better this year, right?

Your vendetta is getting old and making you look like an abject moron.
