----------------------------------

He was at the combine with Jerry.

Says that Jerry doesn't like to get on the head coaches.

Gets into talking about the relationship between Jerry and Stephen.

He says he didn't think the team was as good as everyone thought they were last season because just having star players throughout the roster doesn't mean your a great team.

Says one of Jerry's faults is that he tries too hard to win.

Did Jerry try to trick Dan Reeves into being a head coach?

Hmmm.

But according to the haters Jerry is such a control freak, he emasculates the head coaches because of his control bent. But according to Lacewell he doesn't like to get on the coaches. Quick haters just start switching gears and declare Jerry is too weak. All the head coaches control him.

Oh wait a minute Lacewell is a liar, he has an agenda. He secretly wants to coach....

And then---panic ensued.

What does this mean?

Is "trying too hard to win" include keeping a powerless head coach and trying to do everything yourself, even for the things you are not qualified for?

Just because he "tries too hard" does not mean it is effective or even the correct thing to do and I refuse to give the man credit for it.

So to you, "getting on the coaches" means what--control?

To me, "getting on" the coaches has nothing to do with this.

Emasculation is not the same thing as disciplining or staying on top of them like any effective manager.

Obviously, in your zeal to defend him, you lost focus of whatever primitive point you were trying to make.

Liking to do something and feeling compelled to do it are completely separate things.

Quick haters just start switching gears and declare Jerry is too weak. All the head coaches control him.

No "hater" would ever accuse Jones of allowing the coaches to "control" him.

Oh wait a minute Lacewell is a liar, he has an agenda. He secretly wants to coach....

Oh look. Here is that agenda thing again. LOL

And who exactly is saying Lacewell "wants to coach". Oh, you just made that up. I understand now.

How insensitive can you be? The man is trying and trying too hard111!!!!!!111!!!

I wish he'd try hiring a real GM and HC. That's not even that hard.

I feel for Jerry Jones like I would any other unfortunate wretch with an addiction.

I feel sorry for their plight. I might admire them for their courage if they seek help.

But I won't forgive the blatant stupidity that put them in that sorry situation to begin with.

There are solutions. There are options.

The way some act, he's doing every single possible thing he can to win. That is not true. He's trying, sure. He's just doing it wrong and has been for a large portion of the last decade plus.

Lacewell is another one of Jerry's apologists. For what we know he might even post here.

"Drinking Buddy" is an adecuate title, "Yes Man" another one.

The most ironic thing about Lacewell making that statement is that he was probably referring to the Chan Gailey/Dave Campo years when both of those guys were trying to win with the crap players that Lacewell had a hand in bringing to the Cowboys.

I was trying to figure that out too.

I guess he is saying that Jerry is too desperate at times and takes chances that other owners won't because he's so eager to get back to the Super Bowl.

And then in taking these chances he hurts some aspects of the team.

Sound good? lol.

Great post! Say the Cowboys were a small business and the vocal Jerry backers on the zone were investers in the business. Say wins were profit, not money. Say playoff wins were big profit and say Super Bowl wins were HUGE profit. Well guys and gals, your investment over the last 12 years is breaking even at best because over the past 12 year we are for all intents a .500 team in the regular seaon. Looking for those big profits from playoff wins, look elsewhere. How bout the big payoff to the investors, the Super Bowl, think again. By now, any sage investor would have the Chairman of the Board/CEO's hide and long since pulled his/her money. We are the Dallas Cowboys! We should demand more from the man that calls the shots. Tries too hard my cold February South Dakota butt.

I don't know if being a "yes man" was the biggest problem. He had a terrible eye for talent. We are talking Matt Millen bad.

Is the psycho-analysis of Jerry Jones ever going to stop, with real football being discussed, or what? Seriously, how useless is it to try and peep into the intentions of Jerry Jones..

Why do you care what others discuss?

Just don't read it or comment on it.

Maybe we are bored, lol.

Lacewell was at last years combine with Jerry as well and many around here made an issue of what as well. In the end the draft was pretty successful.
