I understand how it works. Your fooling yourself if you think for profit complies like this will lower your rates if their cost go down. The only reason they would do this is to obtain greater market share for economies of scale.

And if you want to talk about morality, I can give you some anecdotes about insurance companies totally screwing people based on technicalities. But morality does not apply to corporations, right? They're just maximizing their profit to comply with the fiduciary duty to their stockholders.

Do I think corporations are always above board?

Come'on.

But it doesn't mean I or anyone else needs to stoop to their level.

He already said he was hurt. I'm not talking about fraud here, but he should maximize the amount he gets paid without feeling guilty just as the insurance company minimizes the amount they pay off.

"Hurt" can mean a lot of things.

Yes, but if you sustain an injury it behooves you to seek the maximum payout for said injury.

If, for instance, the pain goes away and then comes back or leads to another injury, do you think the insurance company is going to help you?

And if the soreness goes away in a few days... Does that deserve a say a $10,000.00 check?

I really don't see how it's stooping to their level. This is how the system is set up.

A claim is made. The insurance tries to pay zero or the least amount possible. A claimant tries to get the most amount possible.

Unless you have some exact monetization for every injury that you think is fair, maximization is the only play.

It's that type of malignant thinking that has caused not just insurance but our health and education systems to become toxic.

You obviously don't know or care about morals and are why there are so many problems with people these days.

OK since you know me and seem to be the authority on morals, tell me, at what exact $$ level for a certain injury does it slide into the realm of immortality to accept? Do you have a list I can reference.

Ridiculous.

Do you guys try to negotiate the highest wage possible at your jobs?

Immoral.

Don't you know your companies could probably have cheaper products with cheaper labor?

Lol, OK i'm done.

I'm looking to get what is fair. If my wife and I have long term issues, then I want it taken care of. If I feel fine in a week, I want to them to pay for my medical bills that I've incurred up to this point.

And that's fair.

I was hit in a similar manner several years ago.

I was sore for few days and that was that. They fixed the car and some basic doctor stuff and that was settled.

I didn't feel the need to try gouging anyone.

Fair is subjective.

If you had any back or neck issues, they could return. It's possible they could be life long. Your med bills this far will be covered, but that is probably the minimum.

Also, if you have a nice car you should ask for depreciation compensation in addition to any repairs that are paid. Your car will be worth less bc it has been in an accident.

You're lucky. A lot of times injuries aren't immediately apparent after an accident. Especially neck and back injuries.

Does not matter if you both have State Farm. Might actually be a smoother process. Go see your primary doctor in a few days.

I'm sure your medical background justifies that statement.

Can't go through life on "ifs" and "maybes".

:)

I'm glad you're OK.

If you have been involved in a car accident, whiplash injuries need to be taken very seriously. Because symptoms of a whiplash injury can take weeks or months to manifest, it is easy to be fooled into thinking that you are not as injured as you really are. Too often people don't seek treatment following a car accident because they don't feel hurt. By far, the most common injury to the neck is a whiplash injury.Whiplash is caused by a sudden movement of the head, either backward, forward, or sideways, that results in the damage to the supporting muscles, ligaments and other connective tissues in the neck and upper back.

Unfortunately, by the time more serious complications develop, some of the damage from the injury may have become permanent.Numerous studies have shown that years after whiplash victims settle their insurance claims, roughly half of them state that they still suffer with symptoms from their injuries.
